Our country would be much better off if more of us put what is good for our children and grandchildren first........

Yup. Every American should read that book. His “Day of Wrath” book is even scarier.

Hi.

“You remind me of my mother She had us eat dinner in the basement during the Cuban missile crisis.”

My mom had us walk out the back yard to give cold water to the soldiers bivouacked on U.S. 27 in Clewiston.

Scary times.

Years supply of iodine and potassium pills? Full head masks with radiation filters and several years supply of the filters for each member of the family, right?

Make sure your masks have a place to insert the beer, else you risk radiation poisoning.

Safe in your self contained bunker 100 feet underground with a 5+ years supply of food and drinking water, plus your C02 scrubbers and replacement filters, right?

“the explosive size of the current class of nuclear is such that a hit on NYC would take out the east coast down to Miami.”

That is simply not possible. Nuclear weapons have awesome power, but not giant asteroid impact power.

A 1MT weapon will ruin your day, but 20 miles away from it I might not even break the glass in your house.

That’s not an opinion, that’s math and physics. Look online for tools to do this assessment. You’ll find that they are not as depicted in Hollywood.

If someone lobbed hundreds of 1MT bombs at the easter seaboard, you could certainly make a mess of things from NYC to Miami, but a single device? No. Not even close.

I just find it hard to believe that nukes would be their first move. Taking out our satellites/communication makes sense, for instance. If our military has no ability to communicate, there’s no need to drop a nuke. Or am I dreaming?

Hey, I come by it naturally. The only two nuclear attack drills I had in elementary school were during it. We home teach our 12 year old granddaughter. I’m the social studies teacher. She and I started world history and I was contemplating adding 20th European history to give her background on what’s transpiring. Honestly, I’m afraid that after seeing how WWI and II began and what went on, then looking at the Uke catastrophe, would make her the same paranoid wreck that I am.

“we just need to deal with the fallout from JB Lewis-McChord and Bremerton Naval Shipyard’

No, Civilian nuclear power plant at Hanford is targeted. 20 miles from me. Also, Fairchild Air Force Base and Moses Lake (Grant County) Airport are targeted to take out long runways and make them useless as a contingency substitute air bases. And three-letter agency satellite communication facilities in north central WA are targeted, as are comm facilities near Mt. Vernon and Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

I live in Colorado Springs. In the event of a nuclear war I’m going to walk outside, face Cheyenne Mountain, and have my last earthly talk with God.

A 50-kelo ton hydrogen bomb with the US Capitol as the target will have a blast zone of about 45 miles, everything inside the Capital Beltway would be inside the fireball, 10,000 degrees F.

Everything outside the beltway extending 100 miles from ground zero would instantly catch fire from the heat from the blast. The resulting firestorm would suck all the O2 from the air. The shockwave would knock down all structures. Everything within that 100 miles would be dead in less then a minute. This 100 miles reaches all the way to the mountain range west of the city.

A cruse missile travels at about 650 miles per hours, fired from a sub 50 miles offshore from DC would take about 15 minutes to reach it’s target.

There will be no warning, all the elites will already be in their bunkers.
