Even as Russia's president signed his illegal annexation treaties in the Kremlin, Ukrainian forces were advancing inside the areas he had just seized. Hundreds of thousands of men have been fleeing Russia rather than be drafted to fight in an expanding war.
And things are going so badly on the battlefield that Mr Putin and his loyalists are now reframing what they once claimed was the "de-Nazification" of Ukraine and the protection of Russian speakers as an existential fight against the entire "collective" West.
That is the truth and none of it is on Russia's side.

The Russian War effort is now so bad that countless official sources in Russia are publicly wailing against their own military establishment.
Sounds like HIMARS.
Except HIMARS is more accurate, faster (better response time at range), bigger warhead, and has US recon satellite coverage + signals intelligence to find its targets.
The “next generation of the things” is a wishlist that requires several R&D breakthroughs that arent likely to happen anytime in the next few years. The “can hit moving targets” requires real time observation from a great distance or a high order of AI autonomy. Not here, not now.
The Russians could get something like HIMARS if they developed a JDAM-type package for Uragan. But they are far from doing that.
Ukraine is not fighting this war. The US is fighting Russia.
US weapons, US intelligence, US satellites, US guidance systems, US military personnel on the ground leading, advising and training.
It is not even a proxy war.
The Russian version of something like himars is more accurate and has greater range than himars, but all missiles are expensive. The little bomb drones aren’t expensive, that’s the point.

The loss on the field of battle is trivial to the loss at home.
