Got into an argument with an fool on Facebook about why blues areas like New York and other areas are losing population and he claimed it is only because it is expensive. He denied it was crime and claimed red states were more violent.
I showed him the crimes stats for the urban areas in red states. Haven’t heard from him since.

I’ve seen a huge increase in speeding - WAY over the limit - in the past couple of years.

*** a schizophrenic stranger***

Time to reopen all the mental health hospitals that were closed in the 1970s, and the patients dumped on the streets.

That is when mass murders started climbing as almost every one would have been in a mental hospital before they went on their rampage.

Problem: If we used the criteria from the 1950s for locking up someone, so many of the Biden administration would be the first in line for incarceration.

Dear New Yorker: You’re getting what you voted for. Sit back and enjoy it.

When the Gambino family has soldiers in your neighborhood old ladies can walk down the street. Police are safe. Charities are flush. The state is not needed.

You can also get a loan without a lot of hassle.

Gotti had free fireworks in Howard Beach on the 4th and a Turkey for anyone who needed one for Thanksgiving.

Amazing. Libs told God they wanted Him gone. Out of the schools and no praying in public. God, being the gentleman He is, did as He was asked and withheld His hand of blessing and NOW they are surprised that Satan took over the vacuum?

Maybe not. Maybe the racial resentments and sense of (black) entitlement instilled by CRT have filtered down to the streets and achieved one of their intended effects.

Precisely correct. Without racial division, and class envy the democrat party is dead meat. They encourage the hate and thus the violence.

I lived in NYC as a kid also.

Indeed, something has changed.

From the administration of Lindsay through Dinkins, we can say that in spite of the crime and filth in the 70s and 80s, NYC “at least” kept a civilized and respectable brave face - and its leaders and elites still maintained respect for the institutions and history that had made it great. Thus Guiliani was able to build upon something.

I think the socialist and post-modern rot has gone so far, the foundation is completely decayed.

I’m reminded of a passage in Nightmare in Pink, a 1964 novel by John D. MacDonald, in which he describes a day when all at once everyone in New York has had enough and suddenly begins killing everyone else. It was just an aside, nothing to do with the main story, but the image stayed with me. Perhaps this is starting now, only a bit more gradually.

Yes, it’s called NY’s “Justice Reform Law”.

"can also get a loan without a lot of hassle"

The neighborhood bar where I grew up in Philadelphia ran a loan ledger for the neighborhood customers. All of our dads were customers there. Kids braces, new roof, catholic school tuition, hospital bill, car repair, etc... Years later my dad told me the charge was 10%. In the 70's the banks were about the same.

In the mid 90's they arrested the 85 year old bar owner for making book. The local community bank had a lot to do with the matter. By the year 2000 the bank left the community and the neighborhood tavern became a chain restaurant. The blue collar families were all driven out by high taxes and gentrification lords.

One could argue the case for the mafia crime syndicates being consulted ...

About 35 years ago, my mother and I attended the funeral of her uncle in Brooklyn. The undertaker was Italian, took us for a fantastic dinner at a tiny Italian restaurant and sent me home with the best bread I’ve ever eaten in my life. While driving us through his neighborhood he explained how the undesirables were being kept out and the neighborhood was safe. This was when there was ruin, graffiti and lawlessness just about everywhere else. I felt like I was in a scene from the Godfather.

I've also wondered if TV ads don't play into the sense of black resentment, particularly those in the underclass. Ever since George Floyd, corporations have doubled-down on the idea that blacks must be represented in TV ads. So, they are vastly over-represented, but they are not like most ordinary blacks. They ALL live in pricey houses in high-end neighborhoods, and they all drive pricey automobiles. The women sashay around with a sense of smug ease as they go shopping in chic stores.

Viewing this fake world where all blacks are affluent professionals, semi-literate young blacks from broken homes must feel a sense of rage and envy, that they have been denied something that they are owed. So, they lash out, attack strangers, and stage smash-and=dash lootings of stores, anything from high-end jewelry stores to convenience stores and fast-food joints.

The next Paul Kersey better wear a George Floyd mask to protect against security camera photo ID.

I don't see any way to provide effective protection from the criminal element, insane or otherwise, to a general population. It is true that strict enforcement of laws already on the books would be helpful, as would stopping early release and light sentencing of thugs.

I chose to live in a locality that permits me to carry a gun, whenever I feel the need. This, in my opinion, gives me the most effective protection available. If localities à la NYC choose to ban that option, I don't see any way to help the inhabitants of those crime infested locales. They have essentially been made sacrificial lambs by social engineering run amok.

The democrats, who are in power, have made it quite clear they are on the side of the attackers. They have proven they are willing to give them all the hard-working productive people they want to kill, all in the interest of equity or some such thing.

So the murderers know they have nothing to fear - the administration is on their side.

Hard-working productive people don’t belong in New York.

Yep. It’s not that there wasn’t crime, but there were rules and required conduct. Sticking a gun in a store owners face in a store that serves the community will result in swift justice. It won’t be a police matter.

Study the "Zanu, P.F"

Nasty roaming bands of young criminals given a stipend, command and control by political masters. That's the model being built by the leftist state right now.
