Nord Stream pipeline leaks spark sabotage fears
Axios ^

Posted on 09/27/2022 7:47:55 AM PDT by MNDude

Two undersea pipelines crucial to delivering Russian natural gas to Germany were hit with mysterious leaks on Thursday, prompting concerns of sabotage.

Why it matters: The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines have been central to the energy crisis that has enveloped Europe in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

While Nord Stream 2 hasn't entered commercial operation — its certification was halted on the eve of the invasion — Nord Stream 1 provided a crucial pathway for Russian gas to reach Europe until earlier this month, when Russia closed the pipeline citing maintenance concerns. The big picture: Two leaks were detected in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and one in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. While neither pipe was operating at the time the leaks were discovered, both were filled with gas, Reuters reported.

Nord Stream AG confirmed in a statement that "the Nord Stream 1 control center registered a pressure drop on both strings of the gas pipeline," adding that an investigation is underway. Sweden's Maritime Authority issued a warning for ships to maintain a five nautical mile distance from the sites of the leaks, which were registered near the Danish island of Bornholm.

Nice of Biden to carry out Trump’s policy of killing NS-2. Cutting NS-1, too, may well piss-off Russia.

Who sabotaged these pipelines deep underwater?

Geez, I hope this wasn't us.
The Euroweenies would be justified in any retaliation they wanted to take. Surely there must be some sign of what happened? Some sonar data?

It is going to get cold and dark.

If we did this, then we deserve what will happen next.

Sounds like a confession...

SABOTAGE SPILL? Both the GERMAN and RUSSIAN governments are in agreement about ONE THING: that the MASSIVE OUTBURST of oil caused by LATEST SPILL under the Nord Stream pipeline, published by Danish Military, is likely due to SABOTAGE, with MESS ranging HUNDREDS of meters wide.

UPDATE: Swedish seismic center records TWO underwater explosions on the Nord Stream routes - SVT TV channel.

WAS IT YOU, JOE? Nord Stream 2 pipeline is leaking gas, Danish authorities put the energy sector on an orange ALERT (the 2nd highest), WARNING ships to NOT sail within five nautical miles of it, as it’s LIFE THREATENING - leaving the world with one CONCLUSION, Biden delivered on his ILLOGICAL PROMISE.

Biden: “If Russia invades that means Russian troops crossing the border of Ukraine then there will be no longer a Nordstream 2. We will bring an end to it.

Reporter: “But, how will you do that exactly since control of the project is within Germany’s control?

Biden: (smirking) We will, I promise you we will be able to do that.

💰💰Gas from a blasted pipe spills across the Baltic.

In parallel, the only EU country that is rowing loot from all this is Norway.

So a new gas pipeline was opened from Norway to Poland. At the same time, when Germany asked Norway to lower the price, the Scandinavians said that loot is loot☝🏻

Germany continues to be driven ...

‼️The Federation Council of the Russian Federation will not hold extraordinary meetings.

The next one is scheduled for October 4th.

Decisions on the final accession of 4 regions break off for 4 days☝🏻

At the same time, rumors about the military situation in the Russian Federation are being postponed.

Everything looks like a postponement for the continuation of active negotiations at the level of the Russian Federation-USA, which are already underway.

Interestingly, Blinken stated that he was not negotiating with Lavrov, and Sullivan said that he had an emergency line.

Negotiations at the Sullivan-Patrushev level are the highest pre-presidential level of communication between the US and the Russian Federation.

⚡️Kremlin confirms President Putin spoke to 🇹🇷’s Erdogan about Russia’s readiness to negotiate with Kiev - Dmitry Peskov.

Our source in the Office of the President said that the Office of the President is trying to prevent negotiations between the West and Russia, as they understand at Bankovaya that any freezing of the war will be considered evil in society. The United States has restored contacts with the Kremlin, which means that discussions of possible compromise solutions that suit both sides may begin, but all this will take place without the participation of Ukraine.

PS: A permanent solution is needed at this moment & a frozen conflict could be a fatal mistake.

Our source in the OP said that the Office of the President is ready to create a dirty nuclear bomb to contain Russia. A headquarters has already been set up on Bankova with nuclear scientists and the military, who are urgently preparing a group for the development of nuclear weapons.

Yes, I worried about the under sea communications cables that we have installed. I hope someone thought this through before they acted in haste.

Russia could even return the favor and blow the new pipeline from Norway to Poland in retribution.

It is a good sign to see that the U.S. is talking to Russia behind the scenes, though. Also just read that Ukraine has not been heard from in 48 hrs. If that ridiculous idea in that Ukrainian Telegram Channel is right (dirty bomb) I am sure that the U.S. will end that.

Why would Putin give up his best bargaining chip?

When winter comes, people of Germany would be howling to stop their support for for Ukraine and its leaders would have to follow.

Now it’s like “Well, nothing we can do anyhow. We might as well continue our support.”

Yes, they did. Just as he was warning them of the dependency on Russian gas beinga huge bit of leverage against them.

That's the first thing that came to mind.

“There is no capacity in the US to ship to Germany. There is no gas elsewhere. Germany is forked.”

Well, then coal it is! Good news is, coal is so abundant, is there will be plenty of energy left over to power all of the green vehicles.

Yeah, I’ve seen the media try to say Russia did it. There is no way. That pipeline was their key leverage. That is now gone. It was someone whom doesn’t want this war to end. The old Julius Caesar saying of “who benefits?” is appropriate here.

Sweden detected 2 blasts, so probably just a couple of depth charges.

If Biden starts shipping gas to Europe, we in USA will start suffering this winter as well.

We are already shipping as much LNG to Europe as our terminals can handle. That's one of the main reasons US gas prices have risen. I don't know how much US production is actually being sent, but someone recently proposed a cap of 30% of production on exports.

“That war, hidden behind the U.S. created Ukraine crisis, is designed to destroy Europe’s manufacturing advantage compared to the U.S. It is more likely though to strengthen the economic position of China and other Asian economies.”

Biden has never done anything for benefit the United States. Ever. This is for China’s benefit.
