The gas problem is largely due to the stupidity, corruption and evilness of Europe’s “leaders”. There, reads much more accurately.
.................................................
Absolutely no doubt about it. And it’s exactly the same here in America. In fact, it’s true to say that virtually every problem our country is facing today is due to decades of stupidity and corruption in all three branches and in every useless agency, all of which should be done away with.

It is more stupidity than corruption — the unspeakable stupidity of allowing the environmentalists to make the rules and allowing Biden to damage our energy sector. Biden did more damage to this country and the world than Osama Bin Laden did. Contemplate this fact.

Don’t be surprised if you decided to stay there permanently regardless of the cold. So many others already have. Get yourself a knitted wool sweater from Shetland, start drinking Laphroigh single malt, start talking with a Scottish accent even if you’re from Georgia. In less than a year your Mom will not recognize you.

Nuclear power plants are being shut down because of the fighting nearby. They’re afraid of another Chernobyl. The largest power plant in Europe is in Ukraine but Vlad wants it so he can hook it up to HIS grid. Vlad is afraid that Ukraine will enrich itself by supplying electricity to Europe. Vlad wants COMPLETE control over energy supply to NATO countries aka Western Europe. It could become a windfall for our oil&gas industry. With our control of Europe’s energy needs, we have them in our pocket resulting in a closer transatlantic bond and we won’t have to beg them to make the appropriate contribution to NATO. In the scenario I painted, the US is the winner unless AH Biden interferes in my narrative. But he won’t be around indefinitely. Hell, the EU may be paying for the forgiven student loans. All this will happen over a time period of 10 years or more during which Europe’s industrial output will decline and US can expect an economic boom. A MAGA BOOM. Oh blissful LNG.

>>When the populace of these countries realize why they are suffering they will probably turn on the US<<

And fall in Russian hands? Bwahaha. To Europe, Russia is like Ghenghis Khan and the Mongols. No, They will choose Uncle Stupid always.

I see more wood stoves to heat the home. They will use anything that burns and the air quality will be toxic. CO2 emissions will be much worse than natural gas.

This crisis is the result of a failed push to unreliable renewable energies. Energy from coal has been banned without regard to other sources to make up the loss. Changing direction towards nuclear power won’t be fast enough to avert huge populations getting through cold winters. All is the result of poor planning and unrealistic thinking promoted by environmentalist naiveté.

As an octogenarian I’ve never felt so uneasy and uncertain as to the USA’’s destiny. From a historical perspective something is going to have to give like an economic and/or a military collapse. Sooner rather than later. Fasten seat belts.

Map of shale gas deposits in Europe. Too bad if their leaders determine that fracking is more dangerous than economic collapse.

climate change has drained rivers so much that many of Europe’s nuclear plants are offline

OK, this is interesting.

I think some nuclear plants are near rivers for easy access to adequate water to cool them. If the river levels drop enough that might become a problem. But I’d not heard of a specific example of that.

Ahhh!!

Low water AND summer high water temperatures.

AND limits on how hot the returned water can be without 'hurting the fish.'

Seriously doubt the input cooling water temperature is too high to be able to physically cool the reactor. But with warmer input water you need either greater cooling water flow or higher temp on returned water or a mixture of both. From living downstream from a couple water cooled reactors I know the Greenies freak over putting 'hot' water back into our tiny main stream (aka the Mississippi River.) Even though all the studies I've seen show fish love the warm water coming out of there. I suspect they could ignore the Greenie restrictions, output hotter water, and have less impact on Mother Gaia than the CO2 they're not producing by making nuclear power would have had. But people there haven't suffered enough from Greenie priorities to turn on them yet. And when the energy crunch arrives mid winter and their natural gas stockpiles are depleted they can crank the nukes and melt river ice without greenie complaints. So this, alone, won't bring them to their senses.
