Arizona Establishment Republicans Sound the Alarm After a Kari Lake-Led MAGA Primary Sweep: ‘A Catastrophe’ for ‘Our Democracy’

As the dust continues to settle after the MAGA-wing of the Republican Party trounced the so-called establishment wing of the party in Arizona, many of the GOP’s old guard are sounding the alarm that the party is headed for a total wipeout come November in the now purple state.

“I will call in a bit to talk about the doomsday ticket,” Barrett Marson, a Republican political strategist told Politico’s David Siders, but first “let me wake up and finish crying.”

Siders adds, using a perfect illustration for the moment, “A prominent Republican in the state had texted him a GIF of Thelma and Louise driving off the cliff.”

On Tuesday night, Republican voters in Arizona were the latest across the country to weigh in on the battle within the GOP for its future. In the gubernatorial race, the Trump-backed, election-denying Kari Lake was facing off against Pence-backed Karrin Taylor Robson whose work in GOP politics traces back to Ronald Reagan.

The chair of the Arizona Republican Party, Kelli Ward, celebrated Lake’s apparent victory on Wednesday — the race remains too close to call with Lake at 46.2% and Robson at 44.4% as of Thursday morning — and called the GOP’s slate of candidates an “exorcism of John McCain.”

They don't seem to remember that their hand-picked pantywaist Martha McSally lost TWICE in two years.

But Governor Douchebag nominating her after she lost so she could lose again wasn't like Thelma and Louise driving over a cliff, oh no. Because she was a good, mealy-mouthed Establishment Republican.

These 'consultants' are brain dead losers.

Good. I hope it is “A Catastrophe” for “Our Democracy.” The United States was founded as a Constitutional Republic.

It is a fascinating theme, being played out by RINOs and Democrats. "If we win, democracy is proven effective. Of we lose, democracy is proven to be at threat."

The more apt conclusion is that certain individuals' power is being threatened when a vote removes it from them. Such a stance is venal, but the rhetoric is a mishmash of Democrat and assistant Democrat politics.

The media, which HATES REPUBLICANS, sure seems awfully concerned about the well-being and viability of the Republican Party.

Lol. Thanks for that - I came to post a rhetorical reply of: "just what the hell does 'A Catastrophe for Our Democracy' actually mean?" since it seems to be an oft used media buzz-phrase with no apparent explanation.

It’s funny that the GOPe never calls Democrats a threat to Democracy.

Funny how they never fight the Rats, but only members of their own party.

They truly are part of the uniparty and only care about power.

The GOPe RINOs will give total support to the Rats.

Populist Repubs are a greater threat to the GOPe RINOs than the Rats.

GOPe RINOs are happiest when playing “Washington Generals,” designated losers.

“It’s funny that the GOPe never calls Democrats a threat to Democracy.”

You are correct. And this dynamic has been going on for a ling time. George Romney and Bill Scranton preferred Lyndon Johnson to Barry Goldwater, etc.

--- "...an oft used media buzz-phrase with no apparent explanation....."

We agree. Now that the effect of the Peter Principle has exalted Word Salad Harris to the position of Vice President, it is no longer possible to hide behind clever "word users" in politics.

Between the linguistic illnesses of postmodern, progressivist language -- the pronoun lunacy which is folding in on itself, the misuse of the language term gender, and the continual redefinition of many words and blatant assertion that others like "woman" cannot be defined -- the political "word" has lost itself in game playing.

This is among the reasons that the Trump phenomenon so frightens the progressives, for if words have meaning after all, then the malarkey is "outed" as just malarkey.

When "do as I say, not as I do" meets "word salad," the resultant failure is unavoidable.

The Uniparty will fight The People in an attempt to prevent them from owning their elections.

RINOs need to go, every last one of them.

The country’s constitutional republic has always been a threat to “their democracy”.
Communist UniParty hacks are gonna do and say what UniParty hacks do to protect their own gravy train....all at our expense.

The trump presidency did many things and one of them was flushing out the turncoats within the republican party so we know who they are and who to defeat

I thought it was the Babylon Bee at first. They are really writing this about Arizona?!? Arizona conservatives are stoked to bring down, stale, dried-out Nazi cock sucker Hobbs and get a real Governor with Kari Lake.
