Enlistments are plummeting because the sort of men who historically would join are aware the US military is not on their side.

My son’s reserve Army platoon: all warrant officers left by one means or another, no fitness test for more than 2 years (estimate 90% can’t pass), but damn it they all know what pronoun to use thanks to extensive training!
Religious exemptions filed for shots causing quite a mess for readiness training this summer...as those that haven’t taken the shots are not deployable and deprived of training/promotion causing quite a lot of scrambling and of course intimidation.
Straight White Males have been the backbone of the military for two and a half centuries.
Pick up a high school history book and go to WWII. Look at the pictures and and you’ll think that the majority of fighting men were black. Yes, of course, thousands of black did serve but the dozen or so pictures devoted to WWII will feature black soldiers or the Tuskegee Airmen, Japanese internees, Rosie the Riviter, German death camps and the Atomic Bomb. Since most kids don’t actually read the text but just look at the pictures, that’s what they remember.
And the books will include how a woman here or there during the Revolution and Civil War dressed like a man/boy and served.

I doubt they even have those nowadays. If so, it certainly wouldn't include being paddled on the butt as the Squid blows water out of a tie down. The Shellbacks are probably only allowed to give dirty looks at the Squids, while the OOD runs into another slow lumbering freighter.

Legalization of pot is causing the military to relax "moral standards" for example by allowing waivers for drug users.
Also the physical fitness of today's youth is abysmal. When is that last time you remember a PE class in schools?
Lastly the core of the military has been the southern states. They are constantly being ridiculed and s#!t on by liberals as backward hicks because they have Christian values instead of the hipster new age woke crap.
So you are happy with this development.
I’m not sympathetic with the imperialist, globalist ambitions of the neoCons and The Project for a New American Century. If their ambitions are thwarted by a lack of cannon fodder, so be it.
