That's been the UN's goal for us for a long time. Re an article I read years ago, they concluded it was impossible to raise third worlders to first world level. They'd put porta pots in villages and villagers would continue to do their business in the streets.
So the UN concluded that the only way to make all men equal is to destroy the First World.
Looks like they're getting their wish.
