The European Union has unveiled its emergency gas rationing plan — a day before it fears Russia could drastically cut the flow of natural gas to the continent.
The "Save Gas for a Safe Winter" plan announced Wednesday sets a target for the 27 member states to reduce their gas demand by 15% between August and March next year. That reduction is based on countries' average gas consumption during the same months over the previous five years.
The measures come just one day before officials worry Gazprom, Russia's state gas company, may refuse to re-start deliveries through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Nord Stream 1 has been shut over the past 10 days for routine maintenance.

MOSCOW, July 20 (Reuters) - Russian gas flows via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline are likely to restart on time on Thursday after the completion of scheduled maintenance but at lower than its full capacity.
Canada had eventually sent the turbine needed for Nord Stream 1 to Germany by plane on July 17 after repair work had been completed.
Putin said on Wednesday that the capacity of Nord Stream 1 could be reduced due to problems with other pumping units, one of which would need to be sent for maintenance on July 26.
We know people who were genuinely amazed to see for themselves that a week of either no wind or a week of cloudy days affects these "infinitely sustainable" sources. The brainwashing runs deep, as they were adamant that there was never going to be an issue, and now they defiantly think it will still work with some "tweaking."
Or plenty of fuel in the form of a variety of buildings throughout all of their major cities...their betters serving in the EU better hope that burning at the stake doesn’t become a warming option for the general population too.

EU and the US weaponized energy by imposing sanctions. From all appearances Russia wants to sell the oil to the EU both to make money and to break the sanctions.
Gee I bet that pipeline from Israel’s new gas fields is looking like something they better green light, despite Biden’s demand they no do it.
This is Putin’s strategy on the Pipelines, tell everybody sure we will restart the pipeline and live up to our commitments, unfortunately due to factors beyond our control the flow of gas can’t be fully restored.
Hence, Russia recently declared force majeure on its contract for gas.
