GD N word on a regular basis. 20 years later, I was self employed in the sign business and often worked with a fellow self employed black guy. We hung off a 16 story building together to install a Marriott sign. We trusted each other with our lives and money and considered each other as friends. He was straight from the hood and sounded like it but read USA Today every day because it had more world news than the local paper.

I agree that Obama et al. made it much, much worse. (The ‘beer summit’ was transparent, ridiculous pandering and manipulation; I felt very sorry for the cop who had to endure that.)
