A 2-year-old girl was shot dead by a Missouri cop during a tense hostage situation at a Kansas camping trailer, Kansas authorities revealed Monday.
The tragedy unfolded on March 26 when Clesslynn Crawford and her mother were being held at gunpoint by her father, Eli Crawford, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Cops responded to the home in Cherokee County around 7:15 p.m. after a woman called 911 and requested help for a “domestic disturbance,” the KBI said.

Terrible. Asshole “father” who started it.
Horribly tragic! What about the mother who was “gunned down”? Was she killed?
Why do so many men turn out to be total f@#$-ups.
Hang him anyway. With skewers
.....obviously we don’t know enough at this point to come to any informed decision. But, I will say 2 things:
1. The cops took 90 rounds incoming without firing downrange. That speaks well of the professionalism and bravery of the cops on the scene except for the 1 round from the Joplin cop.
2. It seems to me that cops should develop a new strategy for distraught fathers in disputes with wives or estranged wives or girlfriends most likely over a child.
This is just a suggestion but how about DON’T run up on the house with a bunch of cops and panic the father? Why not stay back as far as possible while keeping the house in sight and just observe and hopefully communicate and calm him down? Why can’t it be plain unlawful for a cop to shoot into a dwelling unless he is a SWAT officer with the cross hairs on the perps head and has the permission of the chief?
Just a few suggestions for intelligent discussion. But, “something” needs to change.
Because our country is becoming totally f@#$upped. We need more Jesus.
The speed of revolutinary innovations seems to have slowed down over the past 30 years. Or am I just old?
Drugs, usually meth. Permanently dain-bramaged and most end up more than a little insane.

You are right. But some people are just too lazy to look things up before posting.
This is not near Kansa City, Missouri or Kansas City, Kansas (smaller neighbor). Instead it is near the southern border area of the two states. See Joplin on a map. Usually even without a “request for aid” LE officers can monitor border activity or cross and arrest in “hot pursuit.” Nothing here indicates that is the case but not too unusual if on the state line.
Not really, it’s actually accelerated in many sectors.
Thing is, other sectors have been discouraged or suppressed by our government and the legal industrial complex in the US. Note the huge lawsuits filed against the police and Axon (makers of the Taser) over the use of the Taser. Innovators do not want to get hit by that kind of lawsuit tsunami so they go work on something else.
Different departments have different policies. Joplin isn’t a big city department, so I suspect it doesn’t have a lot of policies these days...
Kansas City, Missouri
Also Kansas City, Kansas.
Article isn’t too clear.
When you really want to put the cherry on top of a fustercluck, call in SWAT!
Kansas City Kansas is in Wyandotte county Kansas. Yes, Wyandotte county is the Unified government is essentially KC KS., but they are different cities in different states.

spell check does evil things
This took place in or near Baxter Springs Kansas. Its as far southeast as you can go in the state, a little further south and you are in Oklahoma. It is nowhere near Kansas City KS or Kansas City MO.
If you look at the pictures there was a Police vehicle from Baxter Springs there. They are a small town police force and probably have an agreement with Joplin, just over the State line in Missouri for mutual assistance, in this case, they requested the amored vehicle that says “Joplin” on the side.
What happened to the Wife and daughter is tragic. No reason for the wife, the child was in the trailer with a murderer. Her death is on the father for what got her shot.
News from home!
KC Royals
"The No. 1 prospect in baseball is breaking camp with the Royals, and he will make his debut on Opening Day as the Royals’ starting third baseman against the Guardians at Kauffman Stadium, ushering in a new era in Kansas City. Witt and the Royals announced the expected news Tuesday before their final Cactus League game."
and: KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pitcher Zack Greinke will be back on the mound Thursday for the Royals Home Opener. Last month, the team signed him to a one-year deal. The Royals' skipper said Greinke is ready to go. (Yes, he is at the end of his career, but why not finish out where you started?)
Each spring except for this year and Covid I would go to the Surprise Stadium and see five spring training games in person. It was three miles from the house I just sold in Surprise, AZ. Every year I would run into someone I knew from KC or Johnson County or at least someone from my old business connections.
I was able t see all the new guys come up from the minors there.
Try a visit sometime, you may retire there as I did.
Today, here in the Albemarle Sound, I did more yard work as I will for the next few weeks. There is no rest when you get a house with 3/4s of an acre lot to look after that has had the yard neglected by its last owner. I is nice to have early spring however. Besides the three new roses I planted I have seven rose bushes of which five were vastly overgrown. I pruned back 60% of the growth but they are still monsters. I bet I already have 300 buds forming and will see 500 blooms within the next eight weeks. Already enjoyed the daffodils we planted in November and dead-headed them yesterday except for one of two. First tulip is up and forty iris are going gang-busters.
In KC I would still be waiting at least three weeks for last frost.
