‘Sitting at Home and Trembling.’ A Town Emerges After a Russian Retreat

The Russian departure was part of a planned withdrawal announced by Moscow a week ago but it ended in a chaotic and bloody retreat after a fierce tank battle last Thursday, said soldiers and volunteers who took part, and residents of the town.

On Monday Ukrainian soldiers were piling the bodies of dead Russian soldiers into a trailer pulled by an army jeep. The soldiers were killed when a Ukrainian tank sneaked close to the entrance of the town and opened fire on the Russian checkpoint guarding the main intersection, according to soldiers and volunteers who took part.

“It’s the first lot we have picked up,” said Sr. Sgt. Andreiy Soroka, 38. “Nine and a half bodies,” he said matter-of-factly.

Four of the men had died in the armored personnel carrier blown up by a Ukrainian tank, he said. Others among the dead Russian soldiers were a captain found in a nearby building, and an 18-year-old conscript in the garden of a house who had been shot, Sergeant Soroka said.

A destroyed tank and armored vehicle on the road were leftovers of the battle, when a Ukrainian tank opened fire on the Russian vehicles. They were the tail end of the Russian presence, which had begun packing and leaving the town a day earlier.

Russian troops had suffered a major defeat days earlier in the town of Lukyanivka, and had failed to retake that town, said the commander of a volunteer battalion, Oleksiy Serediuk. “They were disappointed and they started moving out of several places,” he said of the Russian troops. That led the Ukrainian army command to pursue the retreating army, he said.

“The military command made a very smart decision, first to make their withdrawal a chaotic rout and second to cut their escape route.”

“Some of these publications come highly recommended by Henry Ford, titan of American industry and an honest and trustworthy man, if ever one existed. I trust him with the while truth, nothing but the truth. You should, too.”

Henry Ford has been dead for a long time and his legacy is now the corrupt and liberal Ford Foundation.

You trust who you wish to trust but don’t tell me who I should trust.

Weeks ago, the prediction by the pro-Puting crowd was that Kyiv was going to fall any day, that the Ukrainians had no organized military units left, etc..

So did they take it, or not? Because if not, that means they failed, and are in retreat. There's no other alternative if if you also accept the premise that the Russian were attempting to take Kyiv.

Again, no propaganda or mainstream news source is even necessary to understand one core truth - the Russians did not have enough troops allocated to this attack if the Ukrainians didn't fall apart under the initial assault. Anyone who is honest and understands modern warfare knows that.

Always amazed that there are still people who assume the Russian mission was a takeover of the Ukraine.

Reading about what has unfolded (note: not watching, watching is used as propaganda to play on your emotions) came up with these observations:

1. Destroy globalist bio labs that were placed on your doorstep that were being used to create deadly pathogens to unleash on the world. CHECK

2. Expose a corrupt Ukrainian government with ties to all the corrupt politicians around the globe. CHECK

3. Expose the globalists shills who turned down reasonable compromises (no NATO, etc) and showed themselves willing to destroy a nation, its people, and create millions of refugees. Globalists always profit off of the misery they purposely create. Globalists love refugee$! CHECK

4. Wars are always used to clean out perceived dead wood in your own ranks. Initial troops take the brunt of a conflict. The Chechens that are left are those loyal to the Kremlin. Those left on the battlefield are the ones who could not be trusted. CHECK

5. Demonstrate to an entire generation of brainwashed, internet created soy boys who think they know it all that they do not have a clue as to how the world works. Leave many on the battlefield and send the rest running home to mama. CHECK

Sounds quite cleansing, better than leaving Ukraine as the festering boil waiting to explode on the world that it was.

People are talking that Biden is only supplying equipment to stalemate Russia and never win because he is afraid to provoke Putin and so many people will die.

We need to either give it to them or nothing...we are prolonging death. Why did we even tease them with support

The Ukrainians are not crash test dummies. They do have the resources of an entire country, battered though it may be. Biden’s interference with resupply may be to no avail - Ukraine might pull it out anyway.

The issue is that the more supplies Ukraine gets - the fewer of its soldiers and civilians die and the less infrastructure damage occurs. It’s a travesty that Moscow Joe is screwing them for his own personal benefit. Whatever moral compromises Moscow Joe’s dad made in selling jalopies dressed up as cream puffs to unsuspecting customers, they pale compared to what his son is doing to a country on the wrong end of an invasion force, by holding up and sabotaging aid that the American people want to see dispatched yesterday.

I would have dumped 10k Side by Sides and 3000 jet skies, we have a stupid resources and instead we send them $200k Javs, not saying we shouldn’t send some but man, just think what would happen if their defense force was 100% mobile.

This may be the single dumbest thing I've ever read on this or any other website. Congratulations.

Nobody is stopping you from enlisting and going over there to fight. As I understand it, the Biden military is having a hell of a time procuring new soldiers. It seems people have broken the code that the Globalist owned and operated Military Industrial Complex only cares about their own bank accounts.

I expect if this administration wants to keep their Ukrainian money laundering operation going they will offer all the criminal invaders they are purposely letting through our southern border citizenship if they enlist. Which is probably why they are encouraging this current invasion in the first place. After they get slaughtered over there they are still guaranteed to vote Democrat for decades to come. I am surprised JR allows people to post who care more about Ukraine’s border than our own.

You must have jumped on one too many grenades.

By your logic, me and my buddies who all went to the middle east in 1990 and 2003 for the first assaults were just cannon fodder that the U.S. wanted dead to make it "stronger."

Guess we tricked them by not all dying, huh?
