EU moves with unprecedented speed to welcome Ukraine into union, power grid The EU has accepted Ukraine’s application and has commenced a special admission procedure to integrate the country, Eastern European media has reported.
The EU will also look to switch Ukraine over to its power grid in the coming weeks, further integrating the country into the European structure.
All the West has is PR and useless gestures.
“So you want to have the status quo with brutal dictators?
Amazed at the nonsensical posts I read here.
During WW2, people like you would have advocated we leave Hitler alone.”
Nonsense. There are real drawbacks to joining the EU. Sac’s post is right on...
Your post proves the law that all discourse on the internet will eventually devolve into Hitler and Nazi tropes.
>>> The EU’s decision, or this thread?
The EU’s decision.
I think this is all about taking out Putin as the president of Russia.
But that’s just my speculation.... based on the conclusion that like Trump (now deposed) Putin is a nationalist in the way of the globalists.
Yup—This is “western civilization” today—whistling past the graveyard.

One of the amusing features of the current conflict is that both sides accuse the other of being Nazis.
It is becoming as meaningless as the accusation of “racism”.
When it means everything it means nothing.
And they apparantly absolutely control Washington DC, especially the places that really count - Intelligence, State, DoD, DOJ
They won't depart easily. America is going to need something akin to a "denazification" program.
It also allows free movement among member nations. That means more opportunities for college educated Ukrainians.
THe EU and the US are essentially the same now and run by the same entities. Oh, and they hate you and have spent the last two years in an all out effort to kill you.
I suppose people don’t know it yet.
I suspect if left alone, Russia and Ukraine would work out a reasonable deal. But the US and EU doesn’t want that. So they are egging on the Ukrainians to hold out.
I'm with you. Any steps the world can take -- outside of war -- to isolate and weaken Russia and Putin is OK in my opinion. Folks keep harping on Ukraine's corruption -- and I'm not denying it's probably rotten to the core -- but the truth is Ukraine, unlike Russia or Putin, will never be a threat to the world. Economically or militarily.

One might consider treading lightly with less braggadocio when everyone involved has ICBMs. But sounding tough is cheap.
And you may be right, but I’m OK with a weakened Russia or Putin, especially if he’s going to invade neighboring countries and make (potential) nuclear threats.
Picking a lesser evil here may not work out too well. The fact you need to pick one says a lot.
Agree.
This development is another way in that it appears that Ukraine sees itself more European, and less Russian. Most of it is likely based on economics, but there is also a deep cultural element to the EU that has caused some controversy in some of the more conservative countries, such as Hungary and Turkey.
And I’m amazed that people like you who didn’t believe a word from the media and govt last week swallow everything they say now. It’s astounding.

If it’s true that Putin wants to reconstitute the old Soviet Union, then it doesn’t stop in Ukraine. I don’t have any answers — I always say my opinion is the most worthless thing I own, and I honestly believe that — but I don’t think waiting to see Putin’s end-game before acting is the answer.
Ukraine was corrupt and under heavy Russian influence.
However current president Zelensky is making great improvement in this are. Both getting Ukraine better and taking it away from Russia,
I believe, that’s the reason Putin invaded.
He does not like free and prosperous Ukraine.
