On a day to day basis the united states outside the political realm, the united states does not have many problems. I live so far out it questionable what town I should put on my mail. I could open a small cafe in a month.
Get in a urban city and the problems start. Go to the city where my office is and you got to pay someone for liquor lic, a health inspection, an electrical permit and pay someone not to steal building supplies. The ward boss comes around and shakes down the landlords on the commodity trading capitol of the free world. A single 10 block street pays for the operations of the entire city, and there is petty racket even there on garbage pickup and cooling utilitites.

1939 Poland was a corrupt military dictatorship that had seized a chunk of Czechoslovakia in March of 39. I duppose this MacGregor character would have said he was ambivalent about Hitler invading it. It seems Ukraine’s big sin of giving Hunter Biden millions of dollars for Ole Joe’s assistance is the mortal sin that makes it okay to be invaded and conquered by a madman. While it’s possible Zelensky would like to curb corruption when listening to his better angels, he has not made serious efforts to do so, nor, likely, could he. It’s incredibly dangerous, not only politically but physically (as in a grenade gets thrown into your car while you are in it, etc).
