Sexual orientation linked to choice of transport to work

Men and women in same-sex couples are more likely to commute by public transport and less likely to drive to work than those in different-sex couples, according to a new study.

Researchers from the University of Exeter Business School analyzed how sexual orientation impacts on choice of transport to work, using data from the American Community Survey comprising 3 million working age households.

They found a 'sexual orientation gap' that was particularly stark among men, with gay and bisexual men in same-sex couples 7% more likely to commute by public transport (for women the gap was 3%) and 13% less likely to drive to work.

Men with a partner of the same sex were on average 69% more likely to commute by less popular forms of transport such as walking or cycling.

The data also showed that men in same-sex couples were 45% more likely to work from home than men in different-sex couples.

The analysis was made using a 1% random sample of the US population from the American Community Survey 2008-18, a nationally representative cross-section of the US population that contains demographic, economic, social, work and housing information.

Maybe next they can study which type of drain cleaner is preferred by gender status.

Faggots are drawn to car hostile big cities in search of other faggots.

That’s what I was gonna say.

Why do same-sex couples favor public transportation? Because that’s how they met in the first place. And on the hunt for more.

To Buttigieg took a SUV to about a block from work, whereas he then pulled out his bike to complete the trip. Where would he fit in this study?

Gays tend to live in high-density neighborhoods in large cities, where public transportation is more widely used than in suburban areas, middle-class single-family neighborhoods, small towns, and rural areas.

Great point about the big cities.

Also hard to meet somebody for a hook-up in the park or public bathroom when you are driving in your car. Unless one wants to pay for it.

(Hmm - I know there are known corners to pick up female hookers - I’m guessing there must be corners with gay guys hanging out?)

Yep. They are, by nature, not only promiscuous, but wildly promiscuous and big cities + public transportation offer more such opportunities.

OTOH, my wife and I enjoy each other's company and are satisfied with a handful of close friends and family.

Leading to more people peeing in the stairwells.

No, it’s linked to K-12 indoctrination and the media narrative that it is a healthy normal lifestyle.

Gays tend to live in urban areas as they need little living space since no kids (in most cases).

Heterosexual couples tend to have children (and later, grandchildren) and need more living space. Thus they are drawn to single family homes in suburban or rural areas where public transportation is either non-existent, unreliable, or exceedingly clumsy or time consuming - versus an owned vehicle.

Do we need studies to figure this out? Waste of $$$$$$

It probably has something to do with political orientation. Liberals tend to prefer public transportation.

Yes, and large families (that often come from natural procreation) works better with autos than with buses.
