Even worse, the poll shows that registered voters prefer Republicans over Democrats in congressional races by 10 points. If the midterm elections were held today, the result would be a GOP landslide. Given how extremist and authoritarian the Republican Party has become...that is deep cause for concern.

The GOP is so extreme and dangerous that the party continues to support a Republican, Murkowski, who voted to remove a GOP POTUS based on a Democrat hoax.
While I am thoroughly against Trump’s stance that the election was rigged, I think the GOP is playing fantastic politics by showing outrageous Rat policies hurting the USA, by demonstrating to the suburban voters that their candidates are not scary and are not Trump and by appealing to hard core Trump voters with some of Trump’s policies.
The Democrat/Wapo version of democracy needs to lose so I don’t see a problem here but I do see a benefit.

Well, actually, we do NOT have a “democracy”; we have a REPUBLIC. And with the current autocratic regime, there is NOTHING “democratic” about the way they are running our government.
That’s why I wish Conservatives would raise holy hell every time the word “democratic” is used to describe any words or actions emanting from a member of the DEMOCRAT (I prefer Demonrat) party.
Or, they should describe Republican words and actions as “Republicanic”!
I honestly do not get it.
I have heard for years about how "authoritarian" people on the right are, it is even in one of those stupid on line "personality test".
Yet I know of no right leaning person that wants to control what your kids are taught, make you get injections, force you to bake the cake, tell you to just "take your beating", control what you eat and how much, decide what medical treatment you can have, or any of a host of other things that our dear left wing counterparts seem to be obsessed about controlling.
As far as I can tell "authoritarian" means you can not murder the innocent with impunity, you may not sexually groom kids and you may not steal other people's stuff.
In order to save the land of the free... all must comply.
