Chinese Testing Experimental Armed Drone Ships at Secret Naval Base

n front of scenic cliffs and an ornamental European-style windmill is a secret People’s Liberation Army Navy pier. Here, at a former tourist resort on China’s northern coast, is where the PLAN is developing some of its most secretive, and previously unreported, naval programs, USNI News has learned.

The pier near Dalian is where China is testing its large uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), according to satellite photos provided to USNI News by Maxar and an analysis of open-source intelligence.

Construction of the new pier started in early 2016 and took about a year, according to satellite photos. Since then it has been used intermittently by the PLAN. When in use, two large work barges are moored alongside to provide basic facilities for crews and support staff. The facility itself has only the most basic semblance of a military base. Taken together this suggests that it is an auxiliary facility, used to support short-term trials and exercises.

You put both "height=Y" and "width=X" into your img tag. Don't do both. Do just one:

Aside from a mostly successful test of stolen hypersonic technology, China recently has been turning the propaganda dial to 11. Stupidest thing I’ve seen from them this week was an announcement from a Chinese “company” that they had developed a flying car that could drive on the roads just like a normal car, with rotors that would fold away when in car mode. The illustration included in the article was flatly ridiculous. It had what looked sort of like a rip-off of a BMW i8, hanging from two huge rotors, V-22 style. And the arms for these rotors were crudely drawn coming out of two little holes on the sides of the car, like something you would see on Inspector Gadget. It was comical, but obviously intended to add to a propaganda drumbeat meant to make the U.S. feel like China is just running away with everything and is so far ahead we can never hope to compete with them.

No different than their vaunted “stealth” jet that is underpowered and can easily be seen by virtually any radar.

And disturbingly enough, this sort of thing is happily coopted by the warmongers in the US defense industry to push the panic-money-delivery button.
