PORTLAND, Ore — Educators and parents rallied on Saturday against nationwide legislation that would prevent "critical race theory" from being taught in schools.
Speakers at the rally at the Friendship Circle in Portland told KATU News that they support critical race theory -- which is a legal term used to describe systemic racism.
David Scholten is a fifth grade teacher with Portland Public Schools and they told KATU News that not everyone understands what goes on in the classroom.
There's a lot of confusion about whether or not what we're doing is divisive or not -- and we believe that systemic racism is divisive. Racism is divisive. And in order to heal, we need to come forward, and expose the whole truth of our nation," Scholten said.
This week, Florida joined more than half a dozen other states in banning critical race theory. The curriculum -- which teaches students that racism is systemic and embedded into many American systems and institutions -- has turned into a controversial academic movement.

These teachers also this is a great thing to teach, but I recalled during the virtual learning phase of the pandemic, they were upset if parents said in and listens to what they were teaching. If you were so proud of what you are teaching, why are you so concerned about people finding out more about it?
You must not know any black people, Asian people(especially Japanese), or Indian people.
I just checked the demographics of the state of Oregon. It is 1.6% black or African-American and 2.6% two or more races. It is almost 90% white.

Yeah, David, that's a lame excuse because we DO understand what is going on in classrooms, we know exactly what is going on in classrooms - and we don't like it one damned bit.
Why don't you start your own school based on your warped theories of CRT and BLM and educate kids how you see fit. I'm sure the government will give you a lot of money to get started.
There would be more opposition to CRT if Portland were not controlled by thugs and suspect ballot counting.
