Turning over yet another profession to those with certain credentials was an integral part of how the simple job of reporting became the job of crafting narratives to support a cause. Additional credentials and licensing will just be used to further what has already happened and will be used to ensure political purity in short order.

If you want to be a journalist..... write! Sure it helps to have an extensive background in say, literature or history. People used to get that in high school. But university level schools of journalism are a joke (to me anyway). Time was ink-stained wretches started as copy boys or runners and worked their way up and the best eventually became pundits or authors.... or both.
