He's a legislator, not an executive branch appointee. No power. He's a senator, not a governor. No jurisdiction. Anything could be done would require legislation, appropriately at the state level. Federal legislation would take too long to require sitting around the house waiting for President Biden to sign it.
His action should be at least as significant as Fake Mexican Beto who is actually trying to do something.
Texas could turn blue and Cruz isn’t helping with this stunt.
He did, when? Is coming down to tour and show compassion ?

If he happened to be in DC and flew out with his family from there as opposed to flying out from Texas then the optics aren’t that bad. The article itself stated the info about the trip and the sources were somewhat vague.
If he had flown out from Texas then yeah it looks like he left the poor folk to freeze....yet I find that the silence of other politicians is rather humorous...like” Oh Lord don’t let the media start asking questions about where I was during the big freeze!”
Like where’s Biden and Kamala? Why aren’t they down in Texas right now unthawing all those natural gas pipes and wind turbines!!!(/s!)

Cruz could have gotten a staffer to go with them. This just looks bad and he is not being honest about when he was supposed to come back.
A heavier incentive to put some equipment in place to save yourself ahead of time.
I've experienced power outages since I can remember from early childhood until now. After 50+ years of that, I [finally] concluded that I should lay in some supplies for the eventualities.
Now, some years later, as I head into my 70's with a not untypical increase in personal co-morbidities, buying increased ease of use alternative power supplies for the compound just makes sense.

Kamala needs to be down there cuddling some illegal alien child to keep him or her warm(and sniffing the hair ..just like her boss)!
Yes let’s demand that the Dem’s do what they are demanding that Cruz should be doing; that is, standing around in the Texas cold doing nothing but harrumphing like constipated camels and flailing their arms at the media!
Cruz may or may not be damaged by this but his kids will remember what he did for them and that is most important!
