The challenge to electors was the perfectly Constitutional process which the demonstrators interrupted. After the riot, Congress continued with that legal process.

PS Since when is demanding a genuine meaningful thorough independent audit - what in plain English is called an audit - an impeachable offense or even evidence of a moral deficiency on the part of the requestor. An accounting is a common law right whenever there are a series of complex transaction that materially affect an individiual.
