California is at the breaking point: COVID-19 patients in ambulances are waiting EIGHT HOURS before entering ERs as ICUs run out of capacity and hard-hit LA County probes whether the new, more contagious strain is spreading locally

Hospitals in Southern California are so overrun by COVID-19 cases that doctors are running low on supplies of oxygen, infected patients are forced to wait eight hours in ambulances before they can enter an emergency room, and intensive care units are fully booked with no more beds available.

The skyrocketing surge in COVID-19 cases is raising suspicions among public health officials in Los Angeles County that a new, more contagious variant of the coronavirus is fueling the outbreak.

California's deadly Christmas was marked by pleas to avoid holiday gatherings outside the home and indoor church services in what could be a make-or-break effort to curb a coronavirus surge that already has filled some hospitals well beyond normal capacity.

Everything is local - EVERYTHING.

I have relatives in Southern California and in their four different areas none of the stuff “reported” in the article is happening.

Thanks. How very human of you.

After I escape, I’m coming looking for those that made it happen to myself and my family. I don’t give a crap what party or candidate they support either.

My mother-in-law is in a care facility, suffering from dementia and a host of comorbidities. 2 weeks ago my wife got a call that she’d had tested positive (the facility had been reportedly suffering an outbreak of half the residents infected, along with half the staff).
Last week we got a call that she had been moved from isolation back into her room, never having gotten sick.

Gee. /s

I’m not dismissing the risk to those with health issues and age, but I have 2 observations:

1. Clearly this virus is being hyped beyond reality if the ONE person in my circle who SHOULD have gotten sick and possibly died never even became ill,
2. If a senior care facility - itself on terminal lockdown and implementing strict PPE protocols - cannot prevent the spread of the virus - to say nothing of hospital staff who are regularly reported to have been infected in spite of their PPE and training - then these “lockdowns”are pure theater for someone else’s benefit and great cost to everyone else.

If California is in crisis while the rest of the country and most of the world isn’t, what does that tell you?

My wife’s uncle has been in hospice for a couple weeks. The ghouls in the place wouldn’t allow his wife in until yesterday. It sounds like he’s checking out today or so.

She’s a little bit slow and this has to be just devastating to her. She depended on him for everything and is going to be somewhat helpless after he goes. Fortunately there’s tons of family around her.

The PCR test can be cycled so many times that it picks up mere fragments of proteins present in COVID-19 (and according to some unverified sources, lots of other things too) - if found, then it is deemed a positive test. People don’t only spread live full virus, they also expel fragments of dead virus. The presence of the dead stuff, although triggering a positive result, does not mean that the person is or will become symptomatic or contagious.

There is not very much definitively known about the virus - I would be wary of reaching definitive conclusions.

running low on supplies of oxygen////

WhaaaaaaaaaT ? !

Oxygen generators are a dime a dozen, I’m sitting next to one myself.

Am I supposed to believe the planet is running out of air ?

Epic bullshit.

When a urinalist starts his “ report” with a foul stream of piss on my leg and tells me it’s rain you can believe I will not believe any urine that streams out of his pie hole next.

This kind of propaganda is nothing more than poking the eye of a brain dead public to see how many working brains are still left to be snuffed out.

SPIT

The news needs something to report, so they will keep the COVID crisis alive until the last year of Biden’s first term as president then call it cured and Biden the Savior with barely any time left, then boom, record high approval ratings and economic recovery for Joe Biden and re-election in the bag.

Most of the country and most of the world isn’t? Can you cite to the source for that statement, please?

The Fall spike happened all around the world, at close to the same time and is still going strong. Can’t blame that on the US Thanksgiving holiday, or anything connected to any other national traditions around the world either.

I struggle with my feelings of anger toward people in the news media on a daily basis. It’s a good thing none of them ever knock on my door.

Welcome to hell. CA created this when they became a sanctuary state. They imported all the dregs from south of the border. Now they have to live with this.

People often forget about Prop 187 in CA in the mid 90s. It was a proposition on the ballot that would have denied all services to illegal aliens. It passed handily, and was promptly struck down by some low-level robed faggot, and Pete Wilson and the rest of the establishment declined to fight for it, thereby rendering the will of the people null and void.

For that matter, the same thing happened with the effort to keep marriage as between a man and a woman. (prop 8)

Given what this 2020 election has taught us about the integrity of our voting system, one must wonder how long the scam has been going on. It is quite possible that half the presidents or more in my lifetime were put in office under false pretenses, along with half the Senate and House.

It is possible that California has been a red state for years, and only fraud changed that.

Yes, that is how far gone we are.

They had ten months to prepare for their second wave. They put diddly squat in place to cope with their second wave.

You hit the nail on the head. The "two weeks to flatten the curve" thing was to buy time for the medical establishment to build up capacity. They could have rejiggered the beds situation to handle increased capacity in Covid wards and while you can't make a doctor or nurse appear out of thin air, nine months is enough time to cross-train thousands of Lpn's to function as respiratory therapists by this point.

The corporate numbskulls operating the hospital system are acting like a kid who wakes up on the morning of a big test they didn't study for to find out it's a snow day, and then they spend the day playing in the snow. I'd bet their financials for the last two quarters look real rosy.
