Do you think that since the 1960s when mass air travel Pacific and Atlantic, the mass movement of goods across the Pacific and Atlantic began, we have had other viruses like this spread across the US and even globe?

But today in 3 weeks we can have electron microscope pictures and devise a test within months of discovering a new virus. It took about 3 years to come up with a test for HIV. Technology has caught up with what has been happening all along. But never let a crisis go to waste: politicians, media, government bureaucracy and it was an election year.
Another question: what has the government with all their actions (aside the vaccine initiative) accomplished? Do you really think the final rate of folks infected will be any different between those places where you have the strictest enforcement, and those places that are lax?
