New Study on Masks and Covid-19 Shows...That NO ONE Knows What They're Talking About...NO ONE.

Well, we have a new study on mask-wearing in the time of COVID, and it once again shows that the so-called experts have been peddling information that might not be true. Of course, on a commonsense scale, wearing a mask to prevent spreading the virus makes sense. It does not make you immune. And with the back-and-forth on masks, the credibility of this recommendation has been shot up like a piece of swiss cheese. The best part is that the study undermines the mask regime the COVID Nazis want us to abide by on a daily basis. Look, I won’t lie, folks, I can’t shop for groceries without a mask, so I have been wearing one. Also, I don’t want to waste time being mobbed by the "COVID Karens," but the headline in The New York Times piece says it all about the media and when their narrative gets blown up.

"A New Study Questions Whether Masks Protect Wearers. You Need to Wear Them Anyway." That’s the headline. So, now what? We shouldn’t trust the experts? (via NYT) [emphasis mine]:

Researchers in Denmark reported on Wednesday that surgical masks did not protect the wearers against infection with the coronavirus in a large randomized clinical trial. But the findings conflict with those from a number of other studies, experts said, and is not likely to alter public health recommendations in the United States.

The study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, did not contradict growing evidence that masks can prevent transmission of the virus from wearer to others. But the conclusion is at odds with the view that masks also protect the wearers — a position endorsed just last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Critics were quick to note the study’s limitations, among them that the design depended heavily on participants reporting their own test results and behavior, at a time when both mask-wearing and infection were rare in Denmark.

[…]

From early April to early June, researchers at the University of Copenhagen recruited 6,024 participants who had been tested beforehand to be sure they were not infected with the coronavirus.

Half were given surgical masks and told to wear them when leaving their homes; the others were told not to wear masks in public.

At that time, 2 percent of the Danish population was infected — a rate lower than that in many places in the United States and Europe today. Social distancing and frequent hand-washing were common, but masks were not.

About 4,860 participants completed the study. The researchers had hoped that masks would cut the infection rate by half among wearers. Instead, 42 people in the mask group, or 1.8 percent, got infected, compared with 53 in the unmasked group, or 2.1 percent. The difference was not statistically significant.

[…]

Dr. Mette Kalager, a researcher at Telemark Hospital in Norway and the Harvard School of Public Health, was persuaded. The study showed that “although there might be a symbolic effect,” she wrote in an email, “the effect of wearing a mask does not substantially reduce risk” for wearers.

[…]

Dr. Christine Laine, editor in chief of the Annals of Internal Medicine, described the previous evidence that masks protect wearers as weak. “These studies cannot differentiate between source control and personal protection of the mask wearer,” she said.

Dr. Laine said the new study underscored the need for adherence to other precautions, like social distancing. Masks “are not a magic bullet,” she said. “There are people who say, ‘I’m fine, I’m wearing a mask.’ They need to realize they are not invulnerable to infection.”

Of course, continue to practice social distancing and wash your hands for 20-seconds as often as possible, but this mask stuff has again taken a hit. With that, I don’t know who to trust. It changes, almost like the number of glasses of water one should drink a day. First, they said eight glasses, and then they said that’s too much; we’re pissing away proper nutrients. All I know is that when you don’t know, you can’t issue mask mandates, nor can you issue lockdowns. This is an era where information abounds. People are going to find out over 180-degree reversals like this—and when they do, they are bound not to listen to these people anymore. Any credibility is shattered. It’s already been shattered. You cannot protest or, in the case of Notre Dame, storm a football field when your team beats a #1-ranked opponent in Clemson, but celebrating in the streets and sharing bottles of champagne post-Election Day is okay in the cities. In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom was forced to eat crap when he issued his "you have to stay inside" order, only to abscond to Napa Valley for a dinner with multiple friends. The lawmakers from this state also backed lockdowns before going to Maui. Yeah, and people wonder why there’s so much opposition to lockdowns. The experts don’t know anything. The Democrats are getting off on the lockdown authority harder than Jeffrey Toobin on a Zoom call. A lockdown that’s not based on solid scientific evidence, or at the very least evidence where the jury is indeed still out, like masks, isn’t a public safety measure—it’s a power grab. And the American people have caught on to it.

New study: Lockdowns & masks are useless and might even increase COVID-19 spread

“A recently completed research study by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in cooperation with the Naval Medical Research Center and published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that New study: Lockdowns & masks are useless and might even increase COVID-19 spread”

again:

“...published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that New study: Lockdowns & masks are useless and might even increase COVID-19 spread”

Ditch the mask and stop the testing.

Here’s the study and it did not find what this guy is claiming it found. It actually found that quarantine and masks worked.

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2029717

Cliff notes version is that only 2% of the Marine recruits in the study contracted covid and they only did so because their roommate or someone in their platoon had it when they got there.

You are the one calling a mask a petri dish not me. A petri dish is Walmart, Costco, the grocery store, the doctors office etc. Wearing a mask in any of those scenarios is in my opinion not a Bad idea. But I’m not trying to talk you into it. As I have previously stated I think the surgical masks afford some degree of protection.

Masks are a personal choice. Do it or don’t do it.

“Masks are a personal choice. Do it or don’t do it.”

If only they were!

Won’t try to convince you of anything, but I’ve yet to wear a mask because I thought it would help squat. Heavy government pressure on private business drives it. That, and threat of being sued in a liberal court if the business doesn’t comply.

Protection for the Petri dish. Not the wearer. I personally have no concern with protecting the Petri dish as I am more than capable of staying home when I have the flu/cold and sneezing/coughing so that it does not spread if the need arises.

“Do you disagree with this?

“The study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, did not contradict growing evidence that masks can prevent transmission of the virus from wearer to others. “”

I’d point out the study did not ATTEMPT to analyse that, and that the evidence of states with very strict mask mandates and countries, many of which are experiencing exploding cases, strongly suggests a handful of rigged studies AFTER COVID appeared are bogus.

And that the many studies PRIOR to COVID are correct: Masks don’t stop the spread of viruses.

People are clinging to their masks like they are a cross dipped in holy water as a vampire approaches....

Well fine stay home. I always avoid crowds during flu and cold season. But sometimes I have to go out. If you have no objections I’ll wear a mask. I mean if it’s OK with you of course. 😏

“Masks are a personal choice. Do it or don’t do it.”

That is what it should be and that is what it is in Hernando County Fl. and they are doing just fine. However most of the country have a mask mandate as do most business do to enter.

We have been conditioned and put in a headlong pell mell rush that is headed in my opinion to a dangerous mandatory vaccine for something that according to reports has over a 99% survivability rate.

That has to be a personal choice also.

What makes masking of the general population so ineffective is not just that most common fabrics cannot stop something as small as a virus, the main reason they don't work -- and reality over the past eight months demonstrates clearly that masks are ineffective against a virus -- is because of the way everyday people, untrained in the selection, fitting, testing, wearing and maintaining of personal protective equipment (specifically, a mask) do so quite improperly, incorrectly and foolishly.

That is, you just can't slap a mask over your nose and mouth without carefully applying, then fit-testing it to form a seal completely around it (critical when dealing with something as infinitessimally as small as a virus), then not touching or moving it at any time once that seal has been established ... otherwise, you need to start all over again applying and fit-testing the seal. Oh, by the way, the mask cannot be worn over facial hair or contact any raised facial blemishes above the surface of the skin; otherwise, you'll never be able to seal it completely around its perimeter and it becomes essentially useless ... except that it may provide a bit of psychological benefit to people who remain scared out of their friggin' minds over this virus.

That's just the way it is with masks.

Oh, and The Experts damn well know this is “just the way it is with masks”. Their pontifications and assurances are just lies ... lies ... and more lies.

You have to be careful with supplemental zinc. I do take it (25 mg picolinate) but with 50 mg or more daily you can end up with copper deficiency. So if you combine a zinc supplement with a multivitamin with significant zinc you could be in the danger zone.

So, you’re wearing a mask for hours a day, and breathing into it with your moist exhalations. Some people wear the same masks for hours every day. How else would you describe it but as a mobile wearable petri dish?

Nations all over the world are obviously being infected with mass insanity.

No I’m not wearing a mask for hours a day. I don’t live at Publix. How about 20-30 minutes? Give it up. Worry about something important like Biden taking over and making you STFU and wear a mask.

Dr. Z’s protocol calls for 220 mg. zinc sulfate. Since there are a lot of other forms, he specifies 50 mg. of ELEMENTAL zinc, so one has to do a bit of calculating. This is for the treatment of Covid type illness for 5 to 7 days, so not for a long period of time.

I wear the mask where I'm ordered to. If I don't there is a risk the government will shut down the grocery store where I shop or the restaurants where my kids work and the good people who work there will lose their jobs.

I wear a nonsurgical mask and I really don't think it does much good but if it gets the morons who govern me to allow more businesses to be open I'll wear the thing.

“I’ve got quercitin, zinc, vitamins C & D, NAC and beta carotene.”

Are you taking them on a dedicated basis? BTW you body cannot use more than 250mg Vitamin C at a time. So the ultimate is to take 250mg a few times per day. If I were sick I would do this 8 times per day.

D -Zinc- Quercetin are great for Covid preventative.

Yes, every single day, everyone in the house.

Temp down to 99.4°F. A bit tired, no other symptoms.

Will add more doses of C.

Thanks!
