Embattled Cook County States Attorney Kim Foxx said Thursday she understands the angst and fear Chicagoans feel after two devastating rounds of looting and a 50% surge in homicides and shootings, but her social agenda is not responsible.
Foxx said everything is on the table, including the possibility of reversing or modifying her controversial decision to raise the felony threshold for shoplifting offenses from $300 to $1,000.
Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd), whose downtown ward was devastated by two rounds of looting, bolted from the Democratic Party this week to endorse Republican Pat OBrien.
Reilly complained about Foxxs failure to aggressively prosecute gun crimes and repeat offenders. He argued police are arresting people for the same crimes over and over and police call the states attorneys office a revolving door.
Foxx downplayed the impact of that defection and repeatedly called the alderman OReilly.
The states attorney didnt apologize for pulling out of debates with Pat OBrien, citing his Trump-like attacks and falsehoods.
Mr. OBrien raised the Trump boogey man. Mr. OBrien has unapologetically run on a law-and-order platform. Mr. OBrien has also used the same fear-mongering rhetoric that Donald Trump uses. When Donald Trump talks to suburban voters and how hes keeping their communities safe.

The prosecutor has no discretion to rewrite laws enacted by the legislator. Foxx has refused to prosecute felons charged with retail theft according to the statutes for four years.
Please do not post pics of her. She looks like a black female version of Fred Flintstone.
Things Foxx is doing now in Chicago will have serious consequences over the next 5 years
She knows it’s Trump’s fault but is not saying - will come out later.
does o’brain have a chance? polls?
The DOJ needs step up and go after prosecutors and local executives who purposely do not enforce laws.
This is intentional denial of the rights of people who are not criminals. People have rights to life and liberty expect the ability to live in a state of civil peace.
I have not consented to allow you do ignore laws.
Just being elected does not give them the power do deny MY rights
This is an abandonment of the social contract.
“Mr. OBrien has unapologetically run on a law-and-order platform.”
Well isn’t that sort of the Job Description?
When you let rapists, criminals and looters free and then say the fact they’re all running free is not the reason crime has surged.....
How can anyone live in these cities? Most with any means are getting out and not looking back.
Of course, she had 1,000 for shoplifters....Blacks aren’t going to get up before noon.....
IS there a Foxx in the hen house. Only way to deal with Foxxes that keep returning to the hen house.
Foxx said everything is on the table, including the possibility of reversing or modifying her controversial decision to raise the felony threshold for shoplifting offenses from $300 to $1,000.
Wont matter, of course. She wont prosecute anyone.
It will be difficult for O’Brien, but not impossible. He’s closed the gap from a month ago. The last poll I saw she had a 6 or 7 percentage point lead with 10 % undecided.
Well, of course her social agenda is not responsible. I mean, like, really... C’mon man!
You had those arrested confessing and testifying against each other and at least one other person in the community knew who the murderers were but didn't tell police, but it's the police's fault.
Lost in all of this "justice reform" is actual justice.
Justice for the victim.
Exactly.
It would be a hoot if someone were to bring that up and say to her: does your abandonment of the social contract mean that I can break into your house and beat you because I do not like the color of your skin.
