Contractors who are replacing the border wall in Arizona are dumping leftover debris in Mexico, where scrap metal dealers are profiting off the pieces, witnesses told local television stations KOB4 and CBS 5.
The witnesses — an ecologist who works in the desert region in Southern Arizona and people selling the metal online — told CBS 5 that the contractors are essentially giving away the old wall.
"There were DHS and Army Corps of Engineers officials, standing there watching their contractors with a bulldozer and front-end loaders push the scrap metal onto the Mexican side," Gary Nabhan, a desert ecologist, told the station. "And Mexican scrap metal scavengers were coming right up to the border."
..."All of that metal and concrete should have been carried away to Phoenix or Tucson where there's legal disposal sites or recycling centers – none of it should have been pushed into Mexico," Nabhan said.
.... The station reported that Southwest Valley Constructors is the company that won the contract to erect the border fence near Naco and appears to be the source of steel posts being collected in Sonoyta, Mexico, as well.
Customs and Border Protection is investigating, a spokesperson told CBS5.
Then, since the economy of Mexico benefits from this activity fewer people are crossing the border looking for work because there is work in Mexico. But the votes of those people may be critical to Biden winning the election! This must not be allowed! It is better that they starve in Mexico, come north and vote for Joe.
The big difference is that on the American side it costs a ton of money to recycle with all the regulations. On the Mexican side its worth a fortune to poor people.
The faux outrage runs deep with Marxists, because they would never stoop to pick up a penny, non the less clean up tons of scrap metal in the desert.
Cost to haul the scrap back into the US is probably prohibitive. Just more anti-Trump propaganda.

This isn’t on Trump. The contractors seem (not proven yet) to have been corrupt. You really expect the President to monitor the guys on the ground personally?

This doesn’t really bother me.
The wall is a national security project and it has a cost associated with it that we’ll have to pay if it’s a priority (and it should be). What the people building that wall do with the ineffective barriers they’re replacing isn’t really my concern. If it were particularly valuable and owned by the American people? Sure. But some scrap metal in the middle of the dessert? Better to move it out of there than to have it sitting around rusting out on the ground while doing nothing.
If the contractors building the wall can make a buck in the process, more power to them. This is America; you’re SUPPOSED to be able to make a buck!
What a fantastic and cheap way to get rid of the material. Bulldoze it into Mexico where the scrap dealers clean it up rather than paying BIG bucks to haul it to Phoenix or Tucson and probably paying a fee to dump it there.
Everybody wins. The poor Mexican scrap dealer AND the American taxpayer.

The wall isn’t built exactly on the border, but on our side of the border. The debris is certainly also on our side of the border, if not the US side of the wall. So Mexican illegals are crossing the border to clean up a mess that would otherwise cost us mucho $$.
