I just grew up with TX straight ticket voting and always used it, it’s so easy and fast. I hate having to manually pick through each page to find the R’s, when 1 button will do it.
I was sad to see it go, hopefully it’ll be back for good now.
“its so easy and fast”. Its too easy for DEMs also.
I grew up in Chicago. The DEM precinct leader would just say “Pull 29” “Pull 21” whatever the lever for a straight DEM ticket was. They’d wear buttons saying 29 or 21.
The REP legislature changed the law for a reason. It will benefit REP candidates.

I’m the local precinct election judge, have been involved in the process for many years.
As a voter, you don’t see the complexity of the straight party ticket counting. It also introduces errors for inexperienced election crews.
