I’m hearing different numbers of drop-off from last year’s opener for different games, but it sounds like it’s averaging about a 20% drop; as Rush pointed out today, the decline goes back to about 2016, when Crappernick started taking the knee. Calculate the total drop-off from that point, and I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t come to damn near 30%. Not many businesses can survive that without massive reorganization. And not many players will be seeing anything like the kind of money they were making.
And I am very glad.
Very, very glad.
Until the next round of TV deals with the league are negotiated there will be few consequences for this misbehavior. The people getting hurt are the vendors, parking attendants and merchandisers. That’s kind of the way it is — the ‘innocents’ always seem to get it in the neck.
