I love voting on election day. I want to see my ballot fed into the machine. (although I probably doubt that the machines will not be tampered with)

Heard the same thing in 2016 about the huge number of early votes for Clinton. It doesn’t matter if a vote is made now or on Nov 3. In fact the earlier the mail in ballots are sent in the more time is available to make sure they are legitimate.

In Maryland in 2006, Republican Governor Ehrlich was running for reelection against Martin O’Malley in a horrible year for Republicans. The Republicans blanketed mailboxes and voicemails with pleas to “vote absentee.” They spent a ton on mailing out absentee ballot requests to Republican voters. In the end, the Republicans got crushed, but days later Republicans, as the mail in votes were counted after Election Day, won the absentee vote by practically 2 to 1. It affected a handful of very tight races in the suburbs/rural areas.

Maybe these mail-in ballots will cannibalize election day voting. Democrats are unreasonably afraid of “the virus.” Hopefully these requests are legitimate voters who normally vote on the real election day.
