John Kasich says 'conscience' compelled him to speak at DNC, GOP is 'my vehicle but never my master'

Former Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich told CNN Monday he "had to search my conscience" before agreeing to speak at next week's Democratic National Convention in support of presumptive nominee Joe Biden.

CNN anchor Burnett disclosed that Kasich had written in then-Sen. John McCain's name for president in 2016, "which is a far cry from actually supporting the Democratic candidate for president.

"You were anti-Trump but you were not taking that extra step. What changed?" she asked.

Mailman Jr. is a coward - he made a big mistake in not running for Senator and is now trying to blame other people for his screw up. President Trump would have support Kasuck against Sherrod Brown.

Look in the mirror it is your fault.

Now that he has been out of the news for a few years, I forgot how to pronounce his last name. Now I remember - sounds like “Dixie Chicks”.

I hate to admit it but I use to like this creep, Kasich.
He certainly has turned in to a P.O.S.

What changed?

Nothing changed. He was always a crypto-communist wearing the costume of a Republican to play the character of "opposition" in political theater.

But now that he can't get any more acting gigs, he's reverting to his non-stage self.

I wonder how many other crypto-commies there are in the GOP? Some, like mittens, are obvious. Rubio? Graham? Sasse? Collins?

Kasich was Ohio governor when the 2016 Republican convention was held in Cleveland. It is customary for the host state governor and mayor to address the convention and welcome the delegates. Even if you are of a different party, it is an event that brings business to your city and state and that you want to put in their best light to attract future business conventions. I remember Coleman Young, mayor of Detroit, doing it very graciously for Reagan’s convention in 1980 even though his politics were opposite of the attendees. Kasich wouldn’t even acknowledge the 2016 convention when he was governor of Ohio yet he runs to Milwaukee licking the floor for the Democrats and their senile contender. Shows what kind of person he is.

Usually when one does this the betrayed party will never trust that person again. Self purging.

Kinda takes ya out of the fiscally astute column.

Democrat constituents got McCain’d, meaning they are stuck the Seniority choice. That 2016 write in was so enlightening Prophetic for you, John Democrat...

The GOP needs to kick out traitors.

Of course, the head of the National GOP needs to issue a statement saying that although he can register in any party he chooses, the GOP party chooses to say he does not represent the GOP. Seriously, where are the so called party leaders, in a basement with Biden?

Seems to me to be saying he uses the GOP as a tool for personal advancement. So it’s good in that it’s revealing of who he is.

Given that “slave” and “master” are now considered offensive, how can Kasich say this without push-back?
