“I’m so forward-looking to have an opportunity to sit with the president — or stand with the president — in debates,” He meant to say he was "looking forward" to debating President Trump, not "forward looking" to debating Trump.
The MSM is hyphenating this, but he mixed up the order of his words. He didn't mean it to come out the way it did. Nobody uses grammar like that.
