I agree that freight hauling is a cutthroat business, but the gentleman’s warning about de-funding police is still valid. Even if companies are willing to risk drivers, they are protective of their bottom line. Equipment loses, cargo liability, insurance rates and other expenses will have a toll. The simple economics of hauling freight or doing any kind of business in a danger zone will inevitably result first in higher prices and later in shortages.

True, the dynamic will change. But don’t look for trucking to avoid major municipalities. Did you know there is extra pay just to deliver in NYC? They will pass the expense down to the customer.

But any idea of trucking companies discovering morality and doing the right thing is a joke.
