Mayors and city councils everywhere are lurching to the far-left fringe, dismissing the majority’s concerns over crime, defunding and demoralizing police, and empowering violent criminals. That’s the cause. The effect is the rising murder rates in Democrat-run cities all over the country. Americans are dying.
Thanks to “defund the police” and the Democrat cities going along with it, violent crime including homicide is surging in most of America’s largest cities. While the raw numbers are terrible for Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and other very large cities, it’s Austin, Texas, that’s leading by percentage-increase year over year!
AUSTIN, Texas — Analysis conducted by the Wall Street Journal found that homicides have spiked in 36 of the nation’s 50 largest cities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to WSJ’s data, Austin leads the country in percentage increase of total homicides compared to the previous year, ahead of Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.

2. Hold massive BLM protests in Blue Cities with high Covid 19 infection rates. Like the one planned in DC for teachers, coordinated by the DNC’s long time BLM overseer, Al Sharpton.
Then, let the killer virus Covid 19 take out more blacks participating in the protests involving 100,000 BLMers, packed together, yelling and screaming while protesting. That will spread the CV 19 into their mobs.
Marxist Democrat urban areas will become surreal 21st century ghost towns. Residential, commercial real estate and populations are declining daily. Soon, they will be haunted mostly by the strange and deranged. Street cops don’t even want to accompany the coroners to pick up the bodies much less perform active policing or peacekeeping.

Looks like 'cause and effect' to me...then again other factors could include democrat mayors glorifying violence - thinking it will work FOR them ...and a breathless liberal press that's eternally stuck in 1968.

One of the smaller cities nearby went from about 2 murders to 4 murders this year. So should they be in this mix with a 100% increase?
Never look at percentage increases in such screaming articles. It's the actual numbers that count.
If your budget has already been cut by $1 Billion starting in 2 months time, you don't hire new cops to replace those who are retiring and resigning, which are already at record levels in New York. You start cutting costs in every aspect of policing starting July 1st when the budget was passed.
You wait till October and you are over budget by $1 Billion.

Out here in Californicator land if a wild deer or other critter breaks its neck and dies on your property, the land owner can be in for a very expensive hauling away. The typical total charges for a dead deer can be about $500.
So we just drag the carcass to the streets and leave them in the street by the curb. Usually in about 30 minutes the vultures/buzzards are flying around and feasting. A neighbor across the street did that with a large dead deer.
In about 30 minutes we had about 1 dozen vultures/buzzards in our oak tree facing the street and dead deer. 2 or 3 would fly in, strip the meat, eat and fly away.
By dark there was very little meat left. The coyotes were heading in for an early dinner. They and other critters fought over what was left.
The next morning only hide, hooves, and a few bones and the head was left. A Son in Law of the neighbors sawed off the rack, tossed it into a garbage bag and the back of his pickup. Then, he rolled the big brown composter up and tossed what was left of Bambi into it. A couple days later, the remains went to composting heaven.
We have heard rumors of fresh road kill Bambis magically losing their back straps before being left on the street for nature to handle what was left.
