Per Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Barnaky stood with his hand over his heart and eyes closed.
Barnaky has worked as an NBA referee since the 2009-10 season, per Basketball-Reference. The 45-year-old worked as a college ref for a decade prior to the jump to the pros.
Per the National Basketball Referees Association, Barnaky worked as a civil trial lawyer prior to becoming an NBA official. The NBRA noted that he still works pro bono for "public-at-large clients in need of legal services."
Others who stood for the anthem during the restart include San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, Spurs assistant Becky Hammon and Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac.

If they’re going to make a spectacle of it all, it’d be fun to see some people get creative. Maybe do some handstands, flop on the floor and roll around, turn a few cartwheels. Then they can just tell the media that’s their own special way of protesting and how dare they question them.
Seriously, I’m looking forward to these clowns protesting themselves into WNBA salaries in the next collective bargaining agreement.
Was NBC showing NBA all day yesterday? Scanned over to see audience.
Looked to be a couple rows of ‘virtual’ fans and ‘canned’ screaming.
Spoiled brats.
Hope the whole enterprise goes broke.
Go Woke, Go Broke
“I stood for national anthem.”
US (internationally controlled) media : “Explain yourself!”
Was just having the same thought.

It’s worse than that. It can be used to discriminate against Christians - if they fire people for not kneeling.
Professional basketball is dead to me. But then, it has been for decades.
Is there any doubt they’re coming for our flag and anthem?
It will happen so fast, most people won’t know what hit them. Because they’re either too ignorant to see the handwriting on the wall or so brainwashed they’re cheering it on.
Yesterday the golf tournament was on in the background. I wasn’t really paying attention. But then I heard the end of a blonde woman speaking, I don’t know who she is. And she was saying We have to make it unacceptable to say that ...... and then she said we have to continue having this conversation. She ended by saying That’s my 30 seconds. What kind of conversation is it when what someone might say is unacceptable a priori, and only one side may speak, and the other side must only listen?
Relax. You’ll be fine. Probably won’t see a bug.
We’re in a forest, in the middle of a huge county with lots of people in tiny houses on tiny lots so we get bobcats, coyotes, no bears but “tourists” keep us from paying income tax. So please come on down.
BTW I’ve never shot a bug in the house. ;-)
The one actual warning is please do not walk your dog or kid around the “lake” next to your hotel.
They’re named “retention ponds” - for excess rain - but if there’s water there’s a gator.
Our “green” people have made sure that basically a dinosaur with lots of teeth are protected. You are not.
Hope to see you soon!

I can’t believe this TDS afflicted coach stood for our national anthem. It’s hypocrisy, and two-faced without a doubt!
