What was George Floyd attempting to buy that night? [vanity]

The thread title is self explanatory, and I didn't know whether to categorize this under News (since BLM/the Floyd fallout) is still very much in the news, or under General Chat since the original incident is "old news" by now. But here goes...

Lately I've been wondering if BLM would have been shoved down our throats and statues defaced and toppled left and right (no pun intended), and Antifa ramped up to a level unprecedented, if Floyd hadn't had a hankering that evening for whatever he was trying to slip the funny money for. I've never seen it reported what he was trying to buy. Anybody know?

Probably something very cheap so as to get almost $20 back in real money.

Don’t know what he was trying to buy, but this revolution has been waiting for a trigger. Floyd is it, but most rioters wouldn’t know his name if asked.

Boolean search: Your friend.

george floyd counterfeit

Among the results, the 911 call transcript story:

I won’t give away the punchline...

Probably some balloons so he could do some more hooping.

Saint Floyd died of a drug overdose.

If you have 10 million arrests a year, a certain number are going to die in police custody, regardless. Being arrested is a stressful experience, so individuals like the unfortunate Mr. Floyd and Eric Garner, who have preexisting morbidity factors, may get pushed over the edge.

Does that mean that we can no longer arrest anyone?

Both Mr. Garner and Mr. Floyd were large men, who were physically resisting arrest.

Note the penultimate paragraph of the Post story

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has said Floyd was declared dead at 9:25 p.m. Monday, but that the cause and manner of his death remain undetermined “pending further testing and investigation.”

“pending further testing and investigation.” being Newspeak for "until a politically palatable result is obtained".

I read it just now. I won't give away the punchline either, but I'm not surprised anymore at what Floyd wanted...

He had already bought everything he was going to buy.

He was hiding some of it in his a$$ when they pulled him out of that car.

The rest, as they say, is history.

“I’ve never seen it reported what he was trying to buy.”

The call came from the staff at the Cup Foods grocery store on Chicago Ave in Minneapolis, who suspected he had tried to use the counterfeit bill to purchase cigarettes.

And that was a problem in itself...an asthmatic smoking.

Jun 8, 2020 - Before he died, the 43-year-old asthmatic was heard pleading.

The transcript states that Floyd was buying cigarettes, and the store clerk would have let him go home if he would just give back the cigarettes. He was unwilling to do so.

Preaching to the choir, dude.

I was just providing a link with useful info per the OP.

The article itself is out of date, but links the call transcript.

Probably something very cheap so as to get almost $20 back in real money.

The $20 bill is the most counterfeited bill in circulation in the U.S. Floyd doesn't strike me as a criminal genius so unless he tried something stupid on his own like pasting the corners of a $20 onto a single then it likely he didn't even know if was counterfeit when he tried to use it.

he bought cigarettes at the store. The clerk told him to give back the cigarettes, and Floyd just left the store with the cigarettes and didn’t get any change.
