Rapid City - my cousin retired there from the Chicago metropolitan area. Wife had relatives in the area. His house is on the west side of town - up the hill a ways. He sourced plants for his yard from Outer Mongolia.

If you are in nyc, not only do you have to dodge criminals with bad intentions towards you, you might also trip and hurt yourself on strewn about garbage. What about the homeless being put up in a luxury hotel, does a trash concierge come pick up their garbage at the door?

And 8 months it was a nice place to visit.

My wife has always wanted to visit NYC at Christmas time, so we spent a week there last December.

We had a really nice hotel just a couple of blocks off Times Square, walked everywhere we could, otherwise Ubered and took the subway.

Streets were clean, people were nice, and only saw a couple of people camping on the sidewalks. And that was over by Rockefeller Center.

Glad we went when we did.
