It's against the rules of PC to talk about it, but it's just odd to have a fiancee that doesn't have any arms or legs. It's got elements of Boxing Helena in it.

Even assuming this guy really loved this woman, and wasn't just looking for someone who was totally helpless, and had to depend on him for everything, nobody who really cares for a disabled person deliberately takes them into a situation like that.

If he thought it was dangerous enough that he needed to take a rifle, what would happen to this woman he supposedly loved if the situation got dangerous?

Well, if the whole article is to be believed, they met before she got sick and had the amputations. He gets credit for loyalty.

But, if you are at a riot, with a gun, and point it... the downside is on you, even if its only a misunderstanding. (As in, he wasn’t sure of the driver’s intentions, his girlfriend was immobile, and on the driver’s side, he was trying to avoid confrontation, but didn’t know if the guy with the rifle was using it to gesture, or was brandishing, or really wanted to kill him.)

A disabled person I know pointed out that the disabled fiancee might very much have wanted to participate in the demonstrations.

And she is so much lighter to throw over your shoulder if you have make a run for it.

They met ih high school and got engaged when they turned 18. While he was gone in the military she got an infection that caused her hands and feet to be amputated.

She was the one who wanted to go to protests. Regrets are bitter, I am sure.

A very sad story all around, but the moral of the story is play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
