I consider “The Boxer” one of the greatest songs ever written.

“Gonna Be” - The Proclaimers

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

Another take on the song:

Father of a Boy Named Sue -- Shel Silverstein

FYI: Shel Silverstein wrote the original 'Boy Named Sue'

In my opinion, this song, which was performed at my parents' wedding, is one of the greatest love songs of all time--and on of my all-time favorite songs.

Through the Years--Nat Shilkret & the Victor Orchestra; vocal by Nelson Eddy (1935)

And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him

Learn something new every day. Always thought “laid him down on cotton”...as in hitting the mat. Guess my kids never caught me on that the million times I sang it at the top of my lungs in the car.

FYI: Shel Silverstein wrote the original 'Boy Named Sue'

I was unaware of that. I like his poems "The Great Smoke-off" and "Sarah Sylvia Cynthia Stout."

I think these guys were a very much under rated group during that famed 'British Invasion':

I had long forgotten that one, but as soon as it started, I remembered this:
