Trump, Biden build legal armies for electoral battlefield
The Hill ^ | 07 26 2020 | John Kruzel

President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden with help from allies have amassed an expansive legal war chest and marshaled armies of attorneys for what is on track to be the most litigated election season in U.S. history.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has pledged $20 million this cycle to oppose Democratic-backed efforts to ease voting restrictions while Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, said his campaign has assembled 600 attorneys as a bulwark against election subterfuge.

With a little more than three months until Election Day, the voting rules in key battleground states are the focus of bitterly partisan court fights that could influence the outcome of the presidential race. These include lawsuits to expand mail-in voting in Texas, extend vote-by-mail deadlines in key Rust Belt swing states and restore the voting rights of up to one million indigent Floridians with felony records.

Hundreds of smaller scale feuds that could help shape down-ballot races are playing out across the country over issues like witness and signature requirements for absentee ballots — procedural fights with added significance as mail-in voting operations ramp up amid the pandemic.

The election is going to be a nightmare of historic proportions.

Unless there is a decisive electoral college win, Covid, mail in ballots, felons, and more could throw the election into chaos for months.

Biden is probably assembling a cavalry of corrupt judges as well. Trump should guard his flank.

I certainly hope President Trump is prepared to deal with Democrat Party voter fraud.

Judging from his well demonstrated puissance, I'm sure he is.

considering that NY is still counting primary votes, it may be that we won’t have a result by 1/20 - of course i expect the big lib states to accelerate things greatly if Biden appears to be the winner. what can we do to avoid disaster? i intend to vote in person.

‘Unless there is a decisive electoral college win, Covid, mail in ballots, felons, and more could throw the election into chaos for months.’

very true; minus a decisive and early EC call, there will be electoral blood...

We have seen these type of articles every four years ever since the 2000 campaign.

Thousands of lawyers standing by in Florida on retainer alone!

considering that NY is still counting primary votes

Exactly.

The election is going to be open ended.

Postmarks will be deemed irrelevant because Democrats will demand "every vote should be counted!"

Even when a winner is declared no one will trust the results.

When I took responsibility for a set of precincts in IL, I took the voter lists that are public and indicated those names who had moved or died and were no longer eligible to vote in that precinct. I would give copies of the list to the election judges. The election judges knew I did my homework and often used to lists to the requests of some voters (movers) to go to the precinct in which they lived and vote there...by one of the special means if necessary. Conservatives/Republicans could do that on a massive scale. But they need to know that their information is reliable. One false accusation out of a hundred and that is the one that will get the press. To achieve this several things need to be done: Computerize the lists (they are already computerized) and rank the names from very certain they live at the address to very certain they do not live. Have database columns for specific types of situations. Recruit volunteers (or low paid employees). Filter out trolls who would sabotage the effort by racist talk or action. Have them gradually improve the certainty of people on the list. This should not target any particular geographic area (other than maybe swing states). My experience is that there is just as much corruption in white as Black areas (Less in Hispanic areas). Nobody involved should have pre-conceived ideas about race and similar biases. Send to list to the election judges and election officials at all precinct and county levels. Don't make accusations. Word the message such that these people should be questioned do they really live where they say they live. What we seek is not voter suppression. We seek suppression of corrupt patronage employees and contractors who try to vote in the names of others.
