BREAKING: Trump Makes Major Announcement About RNC Convention
townhall.com ^ | July 23, 2020 | Katie Pavlich

President Trump announced from the White House Thursday afternoon the RNC convention in Jacksonville has been canceled.

Citing the ongoing battle against Wuhan coronavirus, President Trump said it is his duty to protect the American people and the timing of the event isn't going to work.

The announcement comes after the Republican National Committee moved the convention from Charlotte, North Carolina to Jacksonville in June because of ongoing reopening restrictions.

This is a developing story, stay tunes for details.

People might be disappointed that @realDonaldTrump cancelled the RNC Convention in Jacksonville but the Democrats are desperate right now & are willing to do anything to change narrative & hurt people (see Democrat cities). I am glad he cancelled it. Batten down the hatch!— CJTRUTH⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@cjtruth) July 23, 2020

Another unbelievably moronic response how about you figure out and learn why the convention really was canceled and how about you go out and campaign for Trump which is more than the Republicans will do to support him with friends like you Trump doesn’t need enemies go over to the Dem websites

Nonsense. I have supported, openly and enthusiastically, this man since he descended that elevator in Jun 2015.

This is the first time Donald Trump has looked weak. And the reason this upsets me is because it will begin to erode his support.

Slowly, steadily, those folks who voted in an election for the first time in decades in 2016... for Trump ... will not recognize the man. My fear is they will return to their bunkers and wait for the next candidate who is fearless and ignites their souls.

Without them, the President loses.

The new campaign manager needs to go so the President can return to being Trump.

You can lash out at me ... but while you're instincts are right, your target is wrong.

You have a bigger chance of getting killed in a car than from this Chinese flu.

There were fewer than 40k auto fatalities in the US all of last year. We've had over 140K Covid deaths in the last 6 months.

What are you talking about?

Conventions are antiquated, from a time when delegates actually choose the nominee and the party platform that used to be debated mattered at least a little, instead of not all like today.

But I like them anyway, I like watching our people give speeches with the cheering and chanting, and I like heckling the rats. Part of the election fun and a touch of history.

That said, this thing in JAX was already FUBAR, moved outside, Mayor demands masks, no one RSVPing. Going ahead with it under these circumstances would just piss off locals in swing area of a swing state while allowing the media to claim it caused a “spike” and mock “low attendance”. There was no real choice.

We just need the Pres to give a speech, somewhere. And hopefully rallies are possible in at least some states before the election.

The conventions may never return in the same form, especially given how expensive they are, they don’t do much for the parties, don’t even help carry the state they are in.

Please don’t give up on the campaign just yet. I know you are a strong Trump supporter.

There are good reasons to not hold a full blown convention and I am glad he made this decision.

Someone in the Trump administration MUST be challenging the mail in voting NOW using requests for injunctions if that is a proper tool.

Whatever it takes - they must stop the mail in vote fraud NOW!

Good points and I agree with you.

Jacksonville would have been simply one big riot.

Realistically, the convention was just shaping up for an opportunity for Aunt Queefa and the Belligerent Loud Morons to fling their poo at Trump supporters, and for the media to laugh about it and cover nothing else. Maybe a couple clips of RINOs trashing Trump at the convention.

He's not caving...He's making a "wise" decision.

Just for your information. The Biden convention in Milwaukee is being limited to 300 people.

Couldn't fit them all in the basement.

The President is the controlling force. The manager is told what to do by the President.

The reason to move the convention to Jacksonville was to help with votes in Florida, but now that it appears Florida is solid for Trump, there is no dire need to spend those resources in Florida.

Trump is compromised.
Well, I am shocked he lasted as long as he did.
Goodbye America.

Go lie down and stay T.F. out of the way, loser.

Solid for Trump. What polling are you seeing?

it was moved to Jax because of the restrictions put on by Charlotte and Jax was run by Republicans.

Excellent post, Sacajawea.

Ever seen “Night at the Museum”?

Great movie with the very talented late Robin Williams. He is in love with Sacajawea. :)
