Back in the day, police would often be showered with Christmas cookies and food on the holiday. They didn’t eat any of it for fear someone might have put something like LSD in it or something terrible.
I was working in the main lobby of a downtown post office one blistering hot summer day down South. The black uniform and vest just magnified the heat. A female customer walked by and placed on my desk a glistening cup filled with ice and liquid with a straw.
I carried the drink inside and sat it on the desk of a female coworker and told her she could have it. Her face was glad as she raised the straw to her lips. Just before she placed it in her mouth she stopped, looked at me and asked “Why aren’t you drinking it?”. I told her,”Because it’s not sealed and I don’t know if they put anything in it!”. She poured it out.
