:: Many mainstream Muslims consider Ahmadi Muslims to be ‘infidels’ because they believe their founder was a prophet. ::

Typo?
This doesn’t make sense.
A pillars of Islam is that “Allah is lord and Mohammed is his prophet.”

There can’t be any other prophet after Mad Mo.
The Ahmadis sin is believing there was.

See reply 14.

When Mohammed made up his religion, he tried to give it credibility by claiming the he was just a continuation of a long line of (mostly) Old Testament prophets. And then to give it stability and permanence he went on to claim that he was the very last in that sequence of prophets so that nobody could claim to be improving on his work in the name of the Almighty.

He also tossed Christ in as part of the line of the prophets he was supposedly the fulfillment of, thus conveniently removing any complications from that quarter, as Mohammed could thus claim to be a completion on the words of Jesus as well.
