It's over blown...many tribes have their own courts.

And if a crime is committed on Tribal land..it will be settled in Tribal Court.

Most tribes..and I belong to one...don't have much land in Tribal Trust.

The Paiute Res at Pyramid Lake is near me. Two State highways run through it and they “allow” outsiders to recreate on the lake. They have a tribal court that is set-up to extract the most amount of $$$ money from the outsiders. God help you if you wander off the State highway with a gun in your vehicle and the tribal police find it.

Not sure if they handle felonies but I am sure they do “criminal”, based on their laws.
