‘They Have Lost Control’: Why Minneapolis Burned After George Floyd’s death, pent-up frustrations, provocateurs and inexperienced leadership led to mayhem for three nights.
New York Times ^ | July 3, 2020 | Farah Stockman

Two days after George Floyd died, the police chief of Minneapolis called the mayor around dinnertime. He needed help. What had begun as peaceful protests outside the Third Police Precinct was turning into mayhem.

“He said: ‘The Target is getting looted. We are not going to be able to handle this on our own,’” recalled Mayor Jacob Frey, who called Gov. Tim Walz and asked for the National Guard.

The governor said he would consider the request. Afterward, he expressed surprise that city leaders did not seem to have a plan for where they wanted the soldiers to go.

As the night wore on, dozens of buildings burst into flames, without a fire crew in sight. A six-story apartment building that was still under construction collapsed into a ball of fire. A high-tech factory was set ablaze. Residents called 911 desperate for help, but dispatchers were overwhelmed.

Over three nights, a five-mile stretch of Minneapolis sustained extraordinary damage. The police precinct house itself was set on fire, after the mayor gave orders to evacuate the building. A month later, the city is still struggling to understand what happened and why: Not since the 1992 unrest in Los Angeles has an American city suffered such destructive riots.

The vast majority of protesters in Minneapolis, like others around the country, marched peacefully, and some tried to intervene to stop the destruction. To many, the damage was an understandable response to years of injustice at the hands of the Minneapolis police, an explosion of anger that activists had warned was coming if the city did not reform law enforcement.

At the same time, it struck a close-knit, civic-minded community that was already struggling under the coronavirus pandemic. Fires and looting destroyed hundreds of businesses, among them a worker-owned bicycle co-op

Sh8tty police departments are a problem. Bad cops make them all look bad. Fix it. Turn the bad cops in. Fire the bad cops. Defund the unions that force the bad cops back on to the rolls.

These weak liberal fascists are now trying to cover their asses.

It won’t work.

Maybe the People will de-elect ALL of their sorry asses from the municipal level right up to every state electoral office.

Now...They have 5 miles of burned stores. The lifeblood of the city has been strangled by the Fascists. The political leanings of the Mayor prevented the decisive action that was necessary to protect the city, as well as a left wing nut city council.

The city will die, because who would want to invest in a business that can be looted and destroyed whenever? Federal bailout? There should be no federal bailout or help for those cities who elected officials that were self destructive. Elections have consequences.

A couple of multi-million dollar settlements paid by police unions would seem to be a path toward keeping a bad cop off the streets. Hard working police officers have a tough enough job without having to answer for bad characters

Spontaneous combustion! Those naughty buildings.

“Fires and looting destroyed hundreds of businesses, among them a worker-owned bicycle co-op.”

Even obviously good communist comrades were affected by the righteous anger against the man.

Bike shop employees will undergo self criticism war at the former Sacajawea statue site for the next three days.

All of these issues (from riots to statues to the existence of a socialist Dem party) can be traced to a permanent underclass with no stake in this country. They are mere spectators as people from around the world still arrive here and improve their lives.

It isn’t just a black underclass, though many of them have been mired in it for a long time.

“It isn’t just a black underclass, though many of them have been mired in it for a long time.”

This same “black underclass” will continue for centuries to come, no matter how much white guilt and liberal stupidity gives it money and other freebies.

Let me help the boy Mayor:

1. Peaceable protests are welcome

2. Violence will not be tolerated

3. People and property will be protected with force, if necessary

Pretty simple.

A bunch of affirmitive action nobodies who hate America were in office. They’ll be re elected. What was the question?

THIS IS A FLAT OUT LIE

What’s more, neither the Governor of Minnesota nor the Mayor of Minneapolis called in the National Guard to stop it.

At the end of the article, links to previous stories praising the “protestors”. Oops.

This also needs to happen; knee-jerk enablers who defend anything police do just play into the hands of leftists.
