Attorney Alan Dershowitz urged everyone to keep an open mind about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epsteins cohort Ghislaine Maxwell after the FBI arrested her Thursday.
Dershowitz, who has acted as an attorney for notable figures including both President Donald Trump and Epstein himself, spoke out in defense of Maxwell in a Friday op-ed for The Spectator.
Dershowitz formerly helped negotiate a plea deal that gave federal immunity to Epstein and his co-conspirators in 2008, requiring Epstein to serve 13 months in jail in Palm Beach with practically daily work release.
The former Epstein attorney has been accused of sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffre and Sarah Ransome in civil lawsuits that allege Dershowitz had sex with them through Epstein when they were teenagers. Dershowitz denies that he did so and sued Guiffre for defamation.
Everyone should keep an open mind about Maxwell as they should about others who have been accused by Epsteins alleged victims, Dershowitz wrote in his American Spectator op-ed.
He continued: The truth-testing mechanisms of cross-examination and confrontation must be employed against these witnesses, as they are against other accusers. Only after a full trial, in which both sides are presented should reasonable people come to conclusions about Ghislaine Maxwell.
A grand jury indicted Maxwell on charges of conspiracy to entice minors to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors to these illegal sex acts, transportation of a minor to engage in illegal sex acts, and perjury.
The victims were as young as 14 years old, the indictment said, noting that both Maxwell and Epstein knew that certain victims were minors.

Actually he has done exactly that. He has represented at least one defendant who was very against Jews. He got a lot of grief for it. Just as he got a lot of grief for supporting Trump.
Its a code
Its not just men women
Its a life code
It is the golden rule codified
Treat others the way you want to be treated
Dont expect better treatment than you treat others with
No hypocrisy, no double standards for gender or age
Yes, I know. But “treat others the way they’re treated” (paraphrasing original post) was what doesn’t line up with chivalry. That’s why I questioned it.
And don’t forget the original plea that Acosta (who later became Trump’s Labor Sec) arranged with Dershowitz - there’s enough dirt to be thrown around here - so - don’t just throw it in one direction. If Acosta (Bush) had done his job in the first place - we wouldn’t even be here. That deal gave Epstein a slap on the wrist and all the other accomplices walked. Look it up.
No that is the very core of chivalry.
Read up on the history of it.
I appreciate Dersh standing up for Trump, he made some brilliant sounding arguments.
I don’t get why he’s inserting himself into this case though, attention whoring? Not winning himself any fans, instead people are wondering if the did some rapes too.
Maury is better than JS Show.
She is the next hoax for trump, you watch
That’s what I was thinking. He moved a little too far from his left wing perch, and was willing to alienate himself from his commie / socialist base.
He probably has a closet full of... stuff.
He has never worried about winning fans. He has defended some very hated people and causes using the Constitution as the basis for his decision.
I doubt he was involved in any sexual assaults. Epstein used to invite people to the island and tell them to bring the smartest person they had met in the past year. That way he expanded his network.
Several years ago I posted a story about a DuPont heir who was found guilty of raping infants. The judge sentenced him to probation, because the DuPont "isn't the kind of man who would do well in prison." Right, and the rest of us do just great there. Then of course there's the famous "affluenza" teen. These are the norm, not isolated cases.
The one issue where the Left with its push for "equality" could have a point (if they weren't stupid about it) is equality before the law. It's certainly true that people with deep pockets and connections can dodge the law entirely or get away with much lighter sentences than the rest of us. "All men are created equal" was intended to mean or ought to mean equality before the law, not with respect to economic or social outcome. One way to help achieve equality before the law would be (for instance) requiring all high-power criminal defense attorneys like Dershowitz to do a certain number of public defense cases each year, so that it isn't just the Epsteins of the world who get star attorneys (or, alternatively, requiring all criminal defense attorneys to work for the state just as prosecuting attorneys do).
However, liberals pervert what should be a valid issue by turning it into a racial one, with ludicrous statements such as "blacks can't get justice" when it isn't about race at all. OJ did just fine at dodging the law, and Bill Cosby got a good run of it too for quite some time. The common denominator is wealth, influence, and connections.
Ghislaine Maxwell says Jeffrey Epsteins last words were I cant breathe!
He didn't used to, until he started supporting Pres. Trump during the impeachment hearings.
Fine, let's just hope she's alive for a trial.
