The terms actually come from westerns, the guy wearing the black hat was the bad guy, and the good cowboy usually wore the white hat.

Some times not. The 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 1st Corp of the Army of the Potomac was referred to as the “Black Hats” or the Black Hat Brigade”. Their other name was the “Iron Brigade”.

Maybe pass a law that states from now on, we will call the color white, “black,” and the color black, “white.” Even things out a little.

Or, maybe not use “white” anymore for colors. We could call what is now the color white, “Ubooka,” or something else that we make up that sounds non-western.
