Censored: A Review Of Science Relevant To COVID-19 Social Policy And Why Face Masks Don’t Work
Technocracy ^ | June 30, 2020 | Denis G. Rancourt, PhD

Such small particles (< 2.5 μm) are part of air fluidity, are not subject to gravitational sedimentation, and would not be stopped by long-range inertial impact. This means that the slightest (even momentary) facial misfit of a mask or respirator renders the design filtration norm of the mask or respirator entirely irrelevant. In any case, the filtration material itself of N95 (average pore size ~0.3−0.5 μm) does not block virion penetration, not to mention surgical masks. For example, see Balazy et al. (2006).

I think masks do help - the problem is, the socio-economic groups who need to be wearing them most will never voluntarily do so.

Shouldn't they be SUING Everyone involved for these False Claims??

During discovery, at least we'd get a chance to review the "science" these recommendations rely upon.

Any covering prevents wholesale dispersion of pathogens into the environment. You morons debating the efficacy of one over the other as a reason to do nothing are a joke. The tide is turning. Intelligence is reigning. You live under a rock. The discussion needs to be about how to properly wear and maintain a mask and that they aren’t a license to be an idiot in crowded environments.

It’s common sense. If you prevent wholesale dispersion of pathogens into the environment you’re at minimum reducing the chances of transmission. Put your misguided politics aside. If we don’t protect ourselves and mitigate transmission we will get a President Biden.

This is anecdotal, of course, but my son works a counter at HEB, a large grocery chain here in TX where masks are required. His observation is that 80-90 percent of people, when conversing with him, move the mask down to expose their mouth. For those that do leave their masks on while talking, the act of talking causes their masks to slip down, exposing their nose. Both of these acts cause them to touch their face profusely to readjust and move/replace the mask.

Very few people have the discipline to fit the mask properly, and then leave it alone, which would be the only way they would be truly helpful.

Masks are making things worse.

“ prevents”

Limits would be a more accurate term.

A mask prevents virus transmission like a lottery scratcher prevents poverty.

masks do not prevent transmission that’s the point. Common sense is not common.

1. I am not a moron.

I know the difference in particle size between droplets and aerosols.

I have read a number of studies showing that the typical homemade masks is ineffective against COVID19.

I also know that none of the studies show that masks alone stop the spread of a viral outbreak.

I have stated over and over again that masks are suitable in certain situations and that such masks must be of the right material, properly constructed, and fit correctly. Hint at least two layers are necessary. A single layer mask would have to be about the thickness of a 600 thread count cotton sheet. Try that on for size on a hot humid day. Oh and that yes they must be washed and dried properly after each use.

Wearing a thin layer of cotton any which way over your face will not protect others or yourself. Worse it may give sick people the false notion they can now safely interact with others ignoring social distancing rules.

So watch it with your accusations. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

They closed a factory in Cali making masks because the people working there caught the virus. They were wearing masks.

Mouton wrote: “If they were so effective, why did we issue gas masks to our troops. They could as easily used a hanky or their infantry scarfs.”

If IIRC, early in the first days of chemical warfare in WWI, troops were advised to pee on hankys to get ammonia on their hankys.

I suspect that any data that says masks are for anxiety control will be hard to find. It would be hidden since it doesn’t support the narrative. I’m reminded of certain policies in WWII that were imposed only to give the civilians the impression they were helping.

Those aren’t the masks everyone is wearing, pulling down and touching all day long. Nice try, no sale.

Mask requirements mean their is danger. So I don’t go where there is danger unless necessary. Then I wear my useless pretend mask as it should be worn, around my neck.

I second your son's observation. Another observation I have is people doing physical labor like stocking shelves have their masks down or at least below the nose.

If a governor or mayor issues a ‘mask required’ order, will there be a ‘mask removed’ order in the future?
Somehow, I just don’t think so. Is there a time limit on these ‘mandates’ or just until they say so?

Who could shame you into taking off your mask? What level of infection will be acceptable before NOT wearing a mask ‘just makes sense’? Or will eventually only democrats wear masks?

Years ago, the navy stopped letting male sailors have beards. Why? Because in order to have gas masks and other nuclear personal protective gear be effective, you had to have a tight seal from the rubber and plastic from the face mask to your face. Without that seal anything can get in from those stupid face masks.

Since all of this started I have not worn a mask once. People glare at me, but few are as qualified as I am in my local community to put on and take off personal protective gear, including doctors and nurses. You can't get more qualified than Navy nuclear personnel trained in putting on and taking off PPe at the nuclear particulate level. Every time I see someone put on or take off a mask, put on or take off gloves oh, I have to laugh. There's absolutely no way that a single person that I have seen who has put on any personal protective equipment in anyway that would not result in viral contamination.

This whole thing is a crock.
