New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will sign an executive order Wednesday to make Juneteenth a holiday for New York State employees and will propose legislation to commemorate the day as an official state holiday next year.

During his daily press conference, Cuomo recognized that Friday, June 19 is Juneteenth, the day “commemorating the emancipation of slavery in the United States.”

“It is a day that we should all reflect upon,” Cuomo said. “It is a day that is especially relevant in this moment in history.”

Hey Fredo, the Emancipation Proclamation, 1-1-1863 was the day slavery was ended in the US.

President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free."

New York was named after the great Trader of African Slaves ...
The Duke of York
(Also known as King James II).

Short History

The Royal African Company

Chartered by Charles II in 1672 and headed by his brother the Duke of York, for more than two decades the Royal African Company held a monopoly of trade with Africa which included gold, silver and slaves.

From 1680-86, the company transported an average of 5,000 slaves per year, most of which were shipped to colonies in the Caribbean and Virginia.

Thousands of slaves arrived in the New World with the company’s initials branded on their chests.

Why did I think it important to post this very short history of a company that probably few have ever heard of?

New York!

Since the Virtue Signalers are demanding that everything that is offensive to blacks be torn down or renamed .. why not start with New York?

There weren’t even any slaves in the New York at the time of the emancipation, but now the State is going to celebrate the freeing of slaves that never existed in New York State?

With all the holidays they get paid for, I doubt there’s many 5 day work weeks left in the year.

"Which reminds me, when will NYS allow 100% of workers to return to work from their paid 3 month vacations? "

Many never got to be off from work. Nobody in the prisons were furloughed. In fact, the State never stopped transferring inmates from Rikers or other lockups during the lockdown, and that's what caused the spread of the virus to the staff at all of those places.

An executive order ‘celebrating’ the FACT that barely 1/3 of democrats voted to emancipate black folks, while 100% of republicans voted for it- Celebrating the fact that nearly 2/3’s of democrats are racist-

Way to go cuomo- way to highlight your party’s racism

On April 8, 1865, the 13th Amendment banning slavery passed by U.S. Senate Republican support 100% Democrat support 37% On June 19, 1865,

“Juneteenth” is RACIST, as it suggests Blacks can’t articulate June Nineteenth.

This is, of course, Donald J’s fault - if he hadn’t originally scheduled the rally in Tulsa on 19 June nobody outside of Texas would even know or care about Juneteenth.

So many government “workers” don’t do much useful work...some do nothing except collect their check, insulkt taxpayers and check their retirement. This is what they need...another holiday paid by the ever-shafted taxpayers. What a pathetic joke. Wake up people!
