Streaking incident at the 1974 Oscars
On April 2, 1974, Opel apparently snuck backstage posing as a journalist to gain entry to the stage at the 46th Academy Awards show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, CA. He ran naked past David Niven flashing a peace sign while Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor.

After breaking into laughter momentarily, Niven regained his composure, turned to the audience and quipped, “Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was almost bound to happen... But isn’t it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?”

Later, some evidence arose suggesting that Opel’s appearance was facilitated by the show’s producer Jack Haley, Jr. as a stunt. Robert Metzler, the show’s business manager, believed that the incident had been planned in some way. He said that, during the dress rehearsal, Niven had asked Metzler’s wife to borrow a pen so he could write down the famous ad-lib. Opel apparently had to cut through an expensive seamless background curtain in order to reach the stage.

The episode made Opel something of a celebrity. Producer Allan Carr even asked him to streak at a party for Rudolph Nureyev.

Death
Opel was murdered on the night of July 7, 1979 during an attempted robbery of his San Francisco studio by Robert E. Kelly and Maurice Keenan. He was 39.

films will be required to meet “representation and inclusion standards” to qualify for awards.

“12 Years a Slave” would be excluded from Oscar consideration? Racist!

Maybe the NBA and NCAA will do the same thing and require each team’s roster and starting line-up to reflect national demographics.

Kowtowing to blacks and Muslims because they threaten our lives.

Eventually, they will turn on each other.

We’re talking 13% of the population. How much Representation to they need? I mean every TV show commercial movie half the cast is black. I mean who cares as long as they can act, but I mean the idea that somehow they’re under represented in movies and TV and in award shows, is utterly ridiculous

I hate to say it but I don’t really care. Whitw leftist elites in can lose jobs for all I care to black people let them see what it’s like in the real world of affirmative action. But all those white liberal script writers out there not speed to sell their movies or project because there isn’t enough people color in their story.

I’m always out of L.A. when it’s on. The last time I was in L.A. was the after-party for The Wrestler and the Dark Knight, back to back. Mickey Rourke is in my circle, and Jonathan Nolan is a bud of mine (the “American” brother of Chris Nolan). There was another years later which won the Oscar but it was a from a fag, and being surrounded by other fags in Hollywood makes my skin crawl so I made an excuse..

Entertainment Apartheid is here.

While you're at it how many TV gameshows are now hosted by whites except for Pat Sajack?

“Not really, the Oscars are usually one of the top 10 most watched shows of the year.“

That fact doesn’t speak well about the American populace.

The Oscars feature vapid, brainless, narcissistic, obnoxious Anti-American communists. The majority of Hollywood are pond scum,

My apologies to pond scum for the comparison.

I’m proud to say that I’ve never watched an Oscar telecast in my entire life. Who wants to waste their time watching overpaid Non-Essentials celebrate themselves?

I’m more of a music fan. I’m passionate about music.

Music is important and can touch you deeply. You can’t say that about movies.

I used to watch the Grammys and other music award shows before modern music went to Hell. Now, I no longer watch them.

I haven’t watched the Oscars since about 1996.

I remember it being a big television event, growing up.

I used to go to films once a week. That ended awhile ago.

When I was much younger, I loved going to movies. I would go by myself to see something I was interested in. I haven't watched a movie in a theater for a long time. Occasionally, there will be a movie that I would be interested in seeing in the movie theater. These are usually movies where you have big battles or some such thing that need a big screen to appreciate. So, I was actually thinking that hubby and I would go to see Greyhound when it came out. But, the virus hit, and it is now going to be shown on Apple+, which we do not have and I am not going to get just to watch one movie. So, we won't see it.

If requirements are specific about people of color I guess most period dramas are verboten.

Or just be stupid like a black Arab in Robin Hood

Having a film win an Academy award greatly bolsters this success

It used to, no more. The first time I noticed how little it helped a film was when they gave the Best Picture Oscar to Crash. The next day, I was in Target and they had the dvds of Crash out in front by multiple registers. I went in there a couple of days later and the same amount were still sitting there, and this went on for a week, and they finally just removed them.

They are already giving Best Picture Oscars to films that no one saw and no one wants to see. They just did it recently with that film about the woman and the fish man she falls in love with. Can't remember the title. No one saw it before the Oscars, or after.
