If these idiots want to defund their police departments, I hope they pull it off. It will be concrete evidence for the saying: “You never know what you have until you lose it.”

I think this is just intimidation tactics designed to get everyone who does the work and pays the bills all intimidated. I think people just need to turn off the tv, open up the economy, and say no. Police may need to teach some politicians a lesson by moving to less manipulative jurisdictions and abandoning these politicians to the wrath of the voters.

From what I’ve heard, the Mexican police are lazy, corrupt and wholly undependable. It’s a low-paying job which attracts those on little power trips about shaking down innocent drivers. Anyone of any wealth hires private security and the only way they are better is that they understand whose paying them, the private citizen and not the state.

The cartels have so infiltrated the military, the police and the government that they can do practically anything they want and get away with it.

I have a friend who is a missionary in Mazatlan and one of their ministries is to build orphanages to care for all the children whose parents were killed in drug violence.

That is to say, the rise of self-defense militias in Mexico, no less than the rise of cartels, is a direct result of the collapse of civil authority. Absent a functioning state, militias are no more accountable to the general public than a drug cartel—and no more capable of resisting corruption than the local or federal police.

Gee... I get to use a new word for the 3rd time today... It's the favelaization of the DemonRat-run cities...

Mexico’s authorities, including police, have been on the take for centuries.

We are much further down the road than I had imagined only two weeks ago.
